#FerragamoAndI: Salvatore Ferragamo Fall/Winter 2017 campaign

An addictive soundtrack, vibrant pops of colour and spontaneity: these are the key ingredients of Salvatore Ferragamo’s Fall/Winter 2017 campaign, “Ferragamo and I”. Starring Chinese supermodel Xiao Wen Ju alongside Aymeline Valade and Kit Butler, the campaign brings Ferragamo’s latest line-up of shoes and bags to life in a series of dynamic visuals and videos.

With his clever play on perspective and motion, Swiss photographer Walter Pfeiffer injects energy into the campaign as he captures the love affair between Ferragamo fans and the Italian leather house. Besides campaign images and videos, Pfeiffer expands on the narrative with a mini-series titled “Cast Diaries”, where the models improvise with the Ferragamo accessories against eye-catching backdrops for a fun and surprising take on the collection.

Juxtaposed against an array of bold patterns and bright, fruity shades like pink and purple, Ferragamo’s elegant accessories are cast in a playful light — a refreshing change that signifies the Florentine brand’s new direction towards engaging its modern customers. “Ferragamo and I” is both a colourful feast for the eyes and a statement of Ferragamo’s relevance, even as it celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.

Pharrell Williams stars in the Chanel’s fourth “Gabrielle” bag campaign

After Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne and Caroline de Maigret, the American singer and producer Pharrell Williams is the latest star to front Chanel’s “Gabrielle” bag campaign. Last year, he walked the runway for the brand’s Métiers d’Art show in Paris. Now, he is the first man to appear in one of the French luxury brand’s handbag ads.

The video features the “Happy” singer entering an empty concert venue, where he is soon overcome with childlike playfulness. He can be seen riding on a wheeled equipment case and balancing on a metal beam, for example, all with the “Gabrielle” bag worn cross-body and with several strings of pearls around his neck. Shot by French Filmmaker Antoine Carlier,

For this major campaign, entirely dedicated to Chanel’s new “Gabrielle” bag, the French luxury label has signed up four international ambassadors. Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne and Caroline de Maigret have all starred as muses for the “Gabrielle” bag in specific campaigns, each set in their own universe.

Burberry Pays Tribute to Founder with Short Film

Burberry Pays Tribute to Founder with Short Film

This short film about Burberry founder Thomas Burberry is a three-minute affair that plays like a trailer for a full feature film. Alas starstruck fans of Burberry, there is no feature film behind this. The trailer is the whole movie, basically.

The British label launched its Holiday 2016 campaign this week, telling the story of founder, Thomas, and the key moments that built its international reputation. Domhnall Gleeson, Sienna Miller, Dominic West and Lily James star in the three-minute Christmas commercial, filmed in the style of a movie trailer.

Burberry is celebrating Holiday 2016, as well as the brand’s 160th anniversary, with a seasonal short film paying tribute to the luxury label’s founder, Thomas Burberry. The video looks back at some of the key events that helped make Burberry an internationally recognized brand.

Burberry Pays Tribute to Founder with Short Film

“This Christmas, as we celebrate our 160th anniversary, we wanted to tell the story of Thomas Burberry – pioneer, inventor, innovator, and the man behind the iconic trench coat – in our own words,’ said Christopher Bailey, Burberry Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer. “The film we have made is a brief glimpse inspired by his full and extraordinary life, which threaded its way through the history of the twentieth century in all its tumultuous highs and lows.”

The label signed up a star cast and director for this Holiday 2016 campaign. “The Tale of Thomas Burberry” was written by Matt Charman and directed by filmmaker Asif Kapadia (“The Warrior,” “Amy”).

The film stars Domhnall Gleeson (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” “The Revenant”) as Thomas Burberry and Sienna Miller (“American Sniper,” “Black Mass”) as Sara, a fictionalized version of his first love. Dominic West (“The Wire,” “Money Monster”) plays explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton and Lily James (“Downton Abbey”) is Betty Dawson, a character inspired by the life of pilot Betty Kirby-Green.

Key moments in the trailer include Thomas Burberry creating his water-resistant trench coat, which went on to become one of the brand’s signature pieces.

Jessica Chastain Fronts Prada Resort 2017 Campaign

Jessica Chastain, the striking redhead famous for her memorable roles in The Help and Zero Dark Thirty is now a part of the Prada. Her first role as the face of the brand is a breakout performance in the Prada Resort 2017 ad campaign. Set in Milan and shot by Belgian photographer Willy Vanderperre, the campaign situates the actress at various landmarks in Milan, decked out in the brand’s latest threads.prada-resort-17-jessica-chastain-4

Shot both in black and white as well as color, the shots showcase the elegance of Chastain as she channels the Prada woman as well as the contrasting elements of each outfit. The styling captures this clash well by mixing feminine and masculine styles effortlessly which, when paired with Chastain’s old school look, creates a sophisticated campaign.prada-resort-17-jessica-chastain-3prada-resort-17-jessica-chastain-2

Gucci Cruise 2017, Tom Hiddleston

Tom Hiddleston Fronts New Gucci Campaign

Who needs Taylor Swift when you have Gucci? Having spent several months as the man who may have inspired another Swiftian tune, Tom Hiddleston has ditched that unsightly “I Heart T.S” t-shirt (why? Just, why?) and, instead is looking dapper in a tailored suit by Gucci for the brand’s new Cruise 2017 campaign.Gucci Cruise 2017, Tom Hiddleston

The British actor, who is rumoured to be in the running for James Bond, is photographed in a series of shots in a luxurious estate, once owned by the late artist Tony Duquette, in Los Angeles. With Hiddleston as the new face of Gucci, Alessandro Michele enlisted the help of photographer Glen Luchford to capture the laidback sophistication for the new campaign.Gucci Cruise 2017, Tom Hiddleston

However, Hiddleston is not the only star of the campaign. His co-stars are Afghan hounds with hair so sleek and smooth, we feel envious of their manes by simply looking at these shots. These beautiful creatures, the Afghan hounds we mean, are not the first animals to star in Gucci campaigns. For example, for the brand’s Cruise 2017 campaign and Spring 2016 campaign, Michele had in fact included farm animals and peacocks respectively.

The Realest Real: Kenzo Short Film

Exploring the relationship — or lack thereof— between social media and real life, Kenzo introduces its new fall/winter 2016 collection with a short film. Starring Laura Harrier, Natasha Lyonne and directed by Carrie Brownstein, the short film is filled with humor and sarcasm as the characters reveal how the two worlds can collide with hilarious consequences.

Jennifer Lawrence Stars in Dior Accessory Campaign

Dior continues its longstanding relationship with Jennifer Lawrence once again for its latest campaign for the accessories line. Set against either a grey background or plush white armchair, the Oscar-winning actress was lensed by prolific photographer Patrick Demarchelier in the series of portraits.

The “Hunger Games” star — sporting natural, minimal make-up and a simple combed back hairstyle – looked a vision as she posed with the season’s Diorever and Diorama bags in metalized leather, bold colours and tufted velvet logo canvas.

Lou Doillon Fronts J Brand Fall 2016 Campaign

It looks like Lou Doillon is following in her mother’s footsteps of being “the girl”. The French singer-songwriter, who’s daughter to inimitable icon Jane Birkin (yes, that Birkin), makes a return to modelling once again to be the face and muse of J Brand’s campaign this fall.

The stripped back campaign sees Doillon looking right at home in the label’s early 1990s-inspired collection. The range sees retro favorites in the mix – think tight cropped flares, skinny high-rise jeans and relaxed shirts – that give off the laid-back, urban aesthetic that’s now synonymous with the cult label. She’s also featured in various leather motorcycle jackets and spiffy outerwear with brass closures and contrast topstitching.

Laura Pizzarelli, Vice President of Creative and Marketing, explained why Doillon was an obvious choice for the campaign, referring to her as “not a typical model but rather a singer and songwriter, fine artist and a mother,” adding that she “exudes cool with as much power as she exudes kindness.”

But this isn’t Doillon’s first foray into modelling; she’s starred in Maje Spring/Summer campaign in 2015, Chloe’s Spring/Summer 2014 spread and several big-name brand campaigns such as H&M, Vanessa Bruno and Club Monaco. The artist has also graced covers for Vogue Turkey and Elle France and walked for Tom Ford’s special presentation show back in 2011.

Burberry see now buy now campaign visual

Burberry Teases First ‘See Now, Buy Now’ Collection

The image you are looking at teases Burberry’s first “see now, buy now” collection. As part of its new “see now, buy now” strategy, the British fashion label has previewed a first collection due to go on sale directly after its upcoming catwalk show, September 19. The brand also announced a collaboration with The New Craftsmen to honor to the various skilled craftspeople who work for the label.

Having been announced in February, this new instant gratification approach to the design, creation, promotion and sale of Burberry collections is starting to take shape with a first advertising campaign. This previews the first “see now, buy now” collection, set to be presented September 19 at London Fashion Week before going on sale to the public immediately afterwards. And, for the first time, the collection will mix womenswear and menswear.

For Burberry creative director, Christopher Bailey, the changes currently underway at the label will help the brand establish closer links between the world created through its fashion shows and the moment consumers discover collections for themselves in stores. Unspoken in all of this is the role the Internet plays, carrying as it will the livestreams and such of the show.

Honoring craftsmanship

The British brand’s new collection is directly inspired by Virginia Woolf’s 1928 novel Orlando. This can be seen through contrasting masculine and feminine pieces from different periods in history.

Burberry has also chosen to honor the brand’s many skilled craftspeople with a campaign from Mario Testino. The three new faces of the brand – Jean Campbell, Cavan McCarthy and Alex Dragulele – star alongside Piero Calosi, the pattern-maker who worked on Burberry’s latest bag, The Bridle. Burberry will gradually unveil images of several talented artisans working behind the scenes at the brand’s English, Scottish and Italian production facilities.

A series of events in London

After the upcoming catwalk show, September 19, Burberry will also launch a partnership with The New Craftsmen, which promotes the work of British craftspeople. The collaboration will see events and activities at Makers House, Burberry’s new venue in the British capital.

The venue will be open to the public from September 21 to 27 for an exhibition of work by British craftspeople inspired by the label’s latest collection and its theme.

Jourdan Dunn Fronts Kate Spade Fall Campaign

Kate Spade New York enlists not one, not two, but eight personalities from different backgrounds to front its campaign this fall. Shot by Emma Summerton, the muses are photographed on a cabaret setting, each taking control of their own show with their talents.

The personalities in question – which include British model Jourdan Dunn, New York City Ballet choreographer and dancer Justin Peck and playwright John Guare – are dressed in the season’s romantic but eclectic collection of flowy dresses, sharp suits and seventies-inspired silhouettes, together with Kate Spade’s well-loved range of accessories.

Dunhill FW16 Campaign: English Gentleman

Fronted by the enigmatic Guy Robinson, Dunhill’s latest campaign for Fall/Winter 2016 is evidently inspired by the great British countryside.

The campaign – shot by John Balsom and styled by Dan May – is set on the grounds of Wortham Park, an 18th-century English country mansion in Hertfordshire. Robinson transforms into the perfect Dunhill gentleman, driving a vintage car, playing pool and strolling around the property’s vast grounds.

Clad in the season’s motoring-inspired leather blouson and military overcoat, Dunhill completed the dapper look by layering lush cashmere knits underneath, each piece finished in classic British tailoring.

Bally Gets Eccentric for FW16 Campaign

Bally is all about eccentric youth this Fall/Winter. Lest you think it is just another stale rehashing of the celebration of youth, the cast of this season’s campaign includes experienced models such as Guinevere van Seenus and fresh newcomers such as 15-year old Ina Maribo Jensen. It’s all about diversity as well as individuality, all underlined with a touch of vintage chic.

Brought to life by eight models from different generations, the campaign is directed by Design Director Pablo Coppola and shot by Jack Davidson. Read more about the campaign and watch the film at Men’s Folio Singapore.

Bella Hadid Stars in J.W. Anderson FW16 Campaign

In a first for British label J.W. Anderson, Jonathan Anderson has cast a celebrity model for its Fall/Winter 2016 campaign. The model in question is Bella Hadid, who is captured having a playful moment as a screen actress backstage.

You should recognize Hadid by now – she’s already a staple on both the runway and in campaigns, fronting big names in the industry including Calvin Klein and Givenchy. Anderson also continued to entrust the production of the campaign to his longtime collaborators: photographer Jamie Hawkesworth, stylist Benjamin Bruno and famed art direction duo M/M Paris. Hadid is joined alongside a black-and-white image of a boy and his marionette, his piercing gaze an intriguing juxtaposition to her cheeky pose.

Since its establishment, J.W. Anderson has opted for lesser-known faces to great effect, though we can’t deny that some of Hadid’s star power and Instagram fame would certainly help push the label to greater heights.

Head to L’Officiel.com to find out more and revisit some of Anderson’s most memorable.

Seeing Double: Mulberry Winter 2016 Campaign

If Mulberry’s campaign for Winter 2016 made you do a double take, you weren’t alone. Aptly named “Self/Reflection”, creative director Johnny Coca taps twin sisters Lia and Odette Pavlova to play each other’s reflections, creating a playful and intriguing series of visuals for the Mulberry Winter 2016 campaign.

Lensed by young photographer Coco Capitán, the 22-year-old sisters work Coca’s debut collection for the season (which, by the way is a phenomenal amalgamation of punkish elements, graphic accents and quintessentially English silhouettes). Both girls, each similar yet so different, capture the duality of the Mulberry woman with their intriguing similarities and distinct differences.

“Lia and Odette have such distinctive looks and we played with their ‘twinness’ to twist the idea of reflection – sometimes you’re looking at one girl in a mirror, sometimes you see two, reflecting each other in their pose instead. The result is intriguing and playful,” mused Coca.

New Buccellati advertising campaign by Peter Lindbergh

Buccellati Reveals Elisa Sednaoui Advertising

Luxury jewelry brand Buccellati is a company we’ve followed for some time, having as it does a presence at our favorite watch and jewelry fair, BaselWorld. We don’t get much news on what the company is up – although it makes superlative jewelry with an eye on the future. What we do know today is that Buccellati has unveiled its latest fall campaign, returning once more to model and actress Elisa Sednaoui and photographed by Peter Lindbergh. Yes, those two have also graced our stories a number of times so we forgive you feel a touch of déjà vu.

The new yearly advertising campaign, set in Venice, marks a departure from the family-owned Italian firm’s previous choice of Milan (on recurring theme for Buccellati although it is perhaps more renowned in the USA at the moment). Speaking of recurrences, Sednaoui and Lindbergh come together for the brand for the second time.

The series of images, shot across the Conzafelzi Bridge, the The Venice Lido, and the Palazzo Pisani Moretta, showcase several of Buccellati’s creations, including the new “Opera Color” collection, the silver “Blossoms” jewelry collection, and the brand new Giglio range. Sadly, we missed the brand at BaselWorld this year but perhaps the press people will have a showcase in Asia sometime.

The campaign, themed “A Day With Elisa, In Venice,” is scheduled to begin appearing in international publications from July, 2016 so you might have seen it already. Don’t fret if you haven’t, Buccellati is the opposite of ubiquitous.

Calvin Klein Fall Campaign ____ in #mycalvins

You’ve already seen Calvin Klein’s Spring campaign, and how its chosen slew of celebrities ____ in #mycalvins. (Admit it, you’d have probably considered what you’d do in ____ #mycalvins as well.) This fall, the label introduces a new crew of personalities in a reprisal of its Spring campaign.

Shot by Tyrone Lebon (the same guy behind Spring’s campaign), luminaries like Kate Moss and Zoe Kravitz join the squad in revealing their personal narratives. Apart from campaign photos, we’re treated to a collection of more than 50 videos for deeper engagement with the brand and its celebrity gang. It is an offering of “intimate experience”, and we’re not complaining.

Read more about the campaign, and check out the photos at Men’s Folio Singapore. For a slightly different take, check out this other version on the same subject, at L’Officiel Singapore.

Calvin Klein Unveils New Fall 2016 Lineup

Sometimes tried and tested methods are the way to go with advertising campaigns. From actress Margot Robbie to rapper Frank Ocean and model Bella Hadid, the campaign is a visual treat for fans of Calvin Klein. 9 Outstanding AW’16 Fashion Campaigns

Over the last few weeks, we have been inundated with fashion news, from Paris Fashion Week to autumn/winter ’16 ready-to-wear and accessories campaigns and new store openings. As far as the autumn/winter 2016-2017 campaigns go, the tease is definitely on. We certainly haven’t covered all of it but happily the AFP has compiled a report on nine significant ones, in the eyes of the wire service at least.

Here then is a look at the most striking campaigns in store for the autumn/winter 2016 season.

All the hottest models of the moment have been signed up to front campaigns for big-name fashion brands this season, showcasing ready-to-wear clothing collections or various lines of accessories and footwear for autumn/winter 2016-2017.

Famous Faces

It is no surprise to see the Hadid sisters – currently among of the most in-demand models in the world – take center stage in several campaigns for autumn/winter 2016. Gigi Hadid fronts three major campaigns, for Versace, alongside Karlie Kloss, Stuart Weitzman and Max Mara accessories. Bella Hadid stars in a Givenchy campaign with a whole line-up of top models, including Irina Shayk, Lily Aldridge and Mariacarla Boscono.

The other star model of the moment – Kendall Jenner – is also among the famous faces signed up for autumn/winter ads. She can be seen as never before, totally transformed in a campaign for Marc Jacobs. The designer has also enlisted Cara Delevingne, Julia Nobis, Susan Sarandon, Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson.

Australian model Julia Nobis is the star of the Dior AW16-17 campaign, stepping into the role of a modern and stylish woman on the go, photographed in movement by Steven Meisel.

Other flagship ads see Anna Ewers fronting the Miu Miu campaign and Moschino sign up Anna Cleveland, Stella Tenant, Anja Rubik and Raquel Zimmermann in a campaign from Steven Meisel. Anthony Vaccarello picked the stunning Eva Herzigova as the face of his eponymous label.

Standout Campaigns

Two campaigns stand out in particular this season, for two very different reasons. First of all, Saint Laurent has unveiled its first campaign under the creative direction of Anthony Vaccarello, giving followers a taste of what’s to come from the French fashion house. With a less rock’n’roll vibe, the black and white shots have a pared down, minimalist feel, and show the new logo against a white background. The campaign is shot by Collier Schorr.

Eva Herzigova for Anthony Vaccarello

The second standout is the autumn/winter 2016 campaign from footwear label Jimmy Choo, also celebrating the brand’s 20th anniversary. Jimmy Choo is marking the milestone with Amber Valletta, Milla Jovovich, Sasha Pivovarova, Taylor Hill, Lexi Boling, Jasmine Tookes and Xiao Wen Ju, all starring in individual campaign photos shot by Craig McDean.

Chanel Coco Crush New Face Keira Knightley

Longtime friend and face of Chanel, Keira Knightley can now add Coco Crush ad campaign star to her already impressive list of accolades. The 31-year-old actress, in her signature smoky-eyed look and pulled-back hair, looked a vision as she posed with the collection of quilted jewelry.

The campaign for Fall 2016 – shot by the great Mario Testino – comes after a Broadway stint playing Thérèse Raquin. She is slated to star in American drama film Collateral Beauty, alongside other Hollywood superstars such as Will Smith and Kate Winslet.

Check out Chanel’s teaser for the jewelry collection below. Don’t worry if it makes sense, just go with it…

Shop the collection today at the Chanel Fine Jewellery Boutique at Takashimaya Shopping Centre, #01-04.

Vanderperre Shoots Raf Simons FW’16 Campaign

Willy Vanderperre, long-time friend and collaborator of Raf Simons is the man behind the lens of the Belgian designer’s Fall/Winter 2016 campaign yet again. The series of sinister and slightly creepy portraits see fellow Belgian model Luca Lemaire standing amidst an abandoned field and on stone roads in the countryside, wearing the season’s oversized varsity jackets and billowy topcoats.

The stormy sky in the background, coupled with Vanderperre’s ingenious use of lighting, perfectly set the mood for the enigmatic and dramatic campaign. You might think we stitched the images together to enhance the mood but that is not the case. Vanderperre’s photos are in the two-part format seen here, with a portrait on one side and a silhouette on the other, the aim being to showcase the key looks of the Fall-Winter 2016 collection.

Vanderperre and Simons’ long history of partnership date back to 2009, where they first collaborated, and subsequently in 2010 and 2011. He has also shot all of Raf Simons’ ad campaigns since Fall/Winter 2013.
