The Ferretti Yachts 920 “Tai He Ban” has all the spoils of a maxi-flybridge, luxurious appointments and arresting dynamic lines – perfect for entertaining and relaxing!

Oct 08, 2018 | By Joe Lim

The Ferretti Yachts 920 “Tai He Ban” is a maxi-flybridge model with imposing and dynamic lines. Its sensational entertaining areas are both spacious and relaxing. The sophisticated interior furnishings make this yacht “one of a kind” in its category, and the first model to go on show in Hong Kong also the first time on show in Asia was very quickly snapped up by the present owner.

Ferretti 920’s sleek exterior

Ferretti Yachts are forever thinking bigger and better. The Ferretti 920 underlines the dynamic, energetic and innovative approach that the brand has taken onboard to celebrate its half-century of nautical excellence. As always, the exterior and interior styling has been created from a collaboration between the Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee and Engineering Department, along with Studio Zuccon International Project. The actual construction of the yacht was carried out at the Ferretti Yachts shipyards in Cattolica (Rimini), Italy. An all-new hull, measuring 23.98m, makes an immediate impression: the first major innovation is the raised height of the bow, which gives the yacht an imposing presence on the water. The detailing on the bulwarks also helps to emphasise the yacht’s “aggressive” character, which continues beyond the walkways and cuts into the design of the windows in the master cabin. The captivating ceiling back-lighting system completes the lounge’s contemporary appeal, and the central area of the deck is designed to control the circulation flows on board.

MAIN SALOON AND ENTERTAINMENT AREA
Upon entering the yacht on the main deck, it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and the interiors – from the lobby through to the entertainment area – convey a feeling of elegance and distinction. Panoramic windows complement the structural panelling (typical of residential architecture), and veneer finishes with textures that accentuate the depth of the spaces. The expert use of leathers and soft furnishing turns the Ferretti Yachts 920 into a floating luxury penthouse.

The salon, with its anthracite-oak wood parquet flooring, is panelled almost entirely in exquisite walnut wood with chocolate tones, alternating with lacquered accents in different colours and metal finishings. These elements, with the built-in furniture upholstered in grey rock leather by Mastrotto, serves to complement the lounge’s furnishings created by Minotti, including the dining table which is paired with eight Poltrona Frau cream-colored chairs in leather. Heading towards the bow of the yacht, is the entertainment room which enjoys magnificent natural light thanks to double glazed windows with integrated flush portholes. Chocolate walnut toned furnishings blend well with the Minotti L-shaped sofa in aspen-torba leather, Zimmer and Rhode decorative cushions and Poltrona Frau Calacatta gold marble and leather coffee tables. At the starboard side, an elegant lounge sofa by Minotti in Tufo Nabuk fine leather upholstery. The decorative bow wall in Slim Spears mosaic by Mutaforma changes the optical properties of the space and increases the experience thanks to the reflection of the light on its glass nanometric particles. With its large wood sliding top, the bar puts the final touch on this impressive space that includes ensuite day toilet and storage areas.

FLYBRIDGE AND BOW
The flybridge provides panoramic views and features freestanding furniture. The forward part of the hard top overlooking the lounge area and the outdoor helm station comes with various options: the traditional grey fibreglass covering can be replaced with a blacked-out window, a sun canopy, or variable louvres that shade the area while still letting an excellent amount of light and air through. The forward space on the bow is the largest for any Ferretti Yachts vessel of this size. The sun pad on the deckhouse leads into a dinette fitted with two forward-facing sofas, divided by a passageway, and a pair of sofas with adjustable backrests. This creates a lounging area complete with coffee tables that can be protected by shaded covers on request. The stern area features a submersible hatch, and Ferretti’s famous and fabulous system that moves the garage door and swim platform “up and over”, offering guests all the comforts of a spacious beach club, and letting the crew handle the tender with ease. The Ferretti Yachts 920 can accommodate a tender measuring up to four metres in length. Great attention is paid to the crew: in addition to the large dinette with laundry area, the Captain can enjoy a private en suite cabin, while the crew relaxes in two double cabins with a bathroom fitted with a separate shower. A second layout is also available for this area, with a Captain’s cabin under the foredeck.

OWNERS SUITE
An impressive owner’s suite on the lower level perfectly conveys metropolitan styling and is in keeping with the latest furnishing trends. The bed is supported by a dark recessed base, giving an impression of “floating”, and is surrounded by low furniture along the bulwarks, leaving space for the large windows. There is a vanity desk on the starboard side, while the full-beam bathroom is located forward on a slightly lower level. A walk-in closet completes the suite. The main area of the lower deck is available in two layouts: the first version includes three large ensuite cabins, all fitted with a separate wardrobe area. This exclusive layout offers guests a full-beam double suite amidships worthy of a master cabin, and a second VIP suite on the port side with exactly the same set-up. A comfortable third cabin with single beds completes the sleeping area. The four-cabin layout is organised into two ensuite doubles on the port side, and two doubles with single beds to starboard. All the accommodation, including the owner’s suite feature luxury fabrics and cushions by Minotti, Zimmer & Rhode, Dedar and Casamance.

PILOTHOUSE AND ENGINES
The pilothouse is an exclusively technical area with a “futuristic” design. Here, the Captain can manage the entire yacht thanks to a large control station with multiple touchscreen displays that fully integrate the on-board monitoring system and navigation instruments, along with a next-gen steering system. The Ferretti Yachts 920 is available with three different types of MTU engine. The standard model is powered by twin 12V 2000 M96L 1948 Mhp engines, which can be upgraded to twin 16V engines, respectively 2000 M86 generating 2217 Mhp and 2000 M96 with 2435 Mhp. Their respective performances are 23, 24, and 26 knots cruising speed and 26.5, 28, and 30 knots maximum speed, depending on the chosen engine configuration (preliminary data). The boatyard can install zero-speed fins or Seakeeper stabilisers on board the Ferretti Yachts 920, upon request.
