“Luxury is deeply personal; it is shaped by cultural codes and an individual’s personal philosophy. ‘Gentleman’s Tourer’ is a truly unique expression of these principles, formed in one of the world’s most exhilarating cities – the capital of our home market, London. I am delighted that Mark Riccioni has so effectively captured the spirit in which this motor car was commissioned and that we are able to share these images with the public.” – Torsten Müller Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce Presents ‘Phantom Off Duty’ By Mark Ricconi: A look at the Gentleman’s Tourer on the streets

Witnessing the ‘Gentleman’s Tourer’ at the Geneva motor show, automotive culture photographer, Mark Riccioni, had the desire to capture the Rolls-Royce Phantom in a fashion befitting of its spirit: disruptive, imperious and unapologetically contemporary.

The British luxury car manufacturer unveiled the ‘Gentleman’s Tourer’ at the Geneva Motor Show 2018, inspired by the four-door standard wheelbase cars Phantom II Continental Saloons of the 1930s, the gunmetal grey exterior of the Rolls-Royce Phantom II is inspired by the high performance aircrafts of the era and specially conceived for this automobile.

Phantom II Continental Saloons were notable for being commissioned for the road, with exterior colours and interiors created specifically for driving endurance rather than show, necessarily. The Gentleman’s Tourer edition of the Rolls-Royce Phantom II pursues this approach, with a unique Iced Gunmetal exterior paint, complemented by a satin silver bonnet.

Capturing the exceptional car at its next level, Mark Riccioni took the vehicle to the streets of London. Expanding and challenging the notions of luxury, he scoured the streets to find “locations that reflect the zeitgeist that informed the commissioning patron’s vision for his motor car.” In an official comment Torsten Müller Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, commented: “Luxury is deeply personal; it is shaped by cultural codes and an individual’s personal philosophy. ‘Gentleman’s Tourer’ is a truly unique expression of these principles, formed in one of the world’s most exhilarating cities – the capital of our home market, London. I am delighted that Mark Riccioni has so effectively captured the spirit in which this motor car was commissioned and that we are able to share these images with the public.”

For all Rolls-Royce fans, the images will be on display at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London, 15 Berkeley Square, London, W1J 6EG from March 1 to 8, accompanied by the ‘Gentleman’s Tourer’, kindly on loan from its owner.
