Joining the launch of the very popular Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Mercedes-Benz have unveiled the SLS AMG GT3.

Designed to comply with FIA’s GT3 specifications, the SLS AMG GT3 is designed as a race car for “customers competing in sprints and long-distance races”.

Besides carrying a heftier price-tag, the SLS AMG Black Series will get a reworked 6.2L V8 engine that will boost output from 563-hp to 600-hp.

The stock AMG SLS already looks mean enough for the track but the GT3 version benefits from some serious aerodynamic aides in the new front apron with spliter and wider front and rear wings.

The hood sports a large cooling event and there are air intakes for brake cooling in the side skirts and cooling vents in the fenders behind the front wheels as well.

Other race-spec features include a smooth underbody, rear diffuser, central-locking wheels and fuel filler pipes in the C-pillar.

According to insiders, 0-62 mph should come in under 3.5 seconds and top speed should hit around 208 mph.

Mercedes-Benz announced a price of a little over $187,000 for the SLS AMG, but has not yet announced pricing for the GT3 version.
