However, for WOW Vietnam in particular and watch connoisseurs in general, time is nothing but a beautiful concept flowing inside sophisticated machines called watches. Together, time and watches create a wonderful combination. What would a watch be if it could not measure time? And what would time mean if it was not captured by a watch?

The amazing union of time and watches also marked the one year celebration of WOW Vietnam since the first publication in January. Last year saw many positive changes in the watch industry worldwide and domestically. WOW Vietnam is grateful for being warmly welcomed by readers. We pride ourselves on accomplishing the mission to search, filter and deliver the best news in world of watches and bring readers the condensed picture of what is happening with time machines worldwide.

At the end of the year, we were pleased to introduce the Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin – the thinnest perpetual calendar watch in the world, which just won Aiguille d’Or award at GPHG ceremony. The story of the best watch of the year is also the cover story of this edition (page 60).

Besides this, it is indispensable to look through some invaluable information that summarizes the Vietnam watch market in the past year with the big names like Rolex, Patek Philippe and Hublot (page 30). 2019 also marked the first appearance of many watch representatives from all over the world in Vietnam, as shown in exclusive interviews with A. Lange & Sohne (page 148), Bell & Ross (page 152) and Christie’s (page 156).

Nevertheless, the previous year also represented the spectacular rise of vintage watches and steel watches. The more active the pre-owned market became, the more chances for watch connoisseurs to discover hidden masterpieces in auctions (page 34). In the long run, steel sport watches still maintain their unique position in the watch world with excellent examples from major brands after many years (page 114).
