Renowned designer Espen Oeino and Wally founder Luca Bassani have collaborated for the first time to create the breathtaking 165 Wallypower, a fast, open 50m superyacht that will “forever change the way the world sees Mediterranean cruiser yachts”.

Inspired by the radical look of the 118 Wallypower, one of Wally’s first breakaway power boat creations, Oeino took the essence of Bassani’s vision and transformed it into a new category for the brand. The result is a Mediterranean cruiser that is fast, cool and contemporary, with a piercing bow to cut through waves.

Boasting a volume of 499GT, the 165 Wallypower is the first power superyacht concept to be released by the brand since it became a part of Ferretti Group, which is developing the yacht’s naval architecture. The yacht is expected to reach 30 knots with diesel engines and waterjet propulsion.

Stefano de Vivo, Managing Director of Wally and CCO of Ferretti Group, said: “We believe that the essence of Wally as interpreted by Espen has completely transformed how we will see the Mediterranean cruiser yacht, which up until this point has been a market lacking in innovation. The 165 Wallypower is a cutting-edge product in its category.”

Oeino’s concept incorporates features that are distinctively ‘Wally’: uncluttered lines and open decks with a sharp, angular look; a large interior volume made possible through smart naval architecture and design; clean outdoor spaces with natural flow to the interior for an ‘indoor-outdoor’ lifestyle; and a sense of always being close to the water.

“I’ve always been an admirer of Wally design,” Oeino said. “Luca and I share the same vision and approach, rooted in a profound passion for the sea and sailing. With the 165 Wallypower, two like-minded, driven brands have now finally come together to create a new icon.”

The owner’s stateroom is on the main deck, with four en-suite guest cabins on the lower deck. Midships on the main deck is a large saloon and dining area with double fold-down balconies, leading to an outdoor dining space and swimming pool flanked by large sunpads.

Port and starboard staircases take guests to the water’s edge with a beach club featuring U-shaped seating and large, fold-down bulwarks. Typical of Wally’s signature look, railings and deck equipment are kept to a minimum, while above, the sundeck extends a full 15m.

Bassani said: “Wally products must always be innovative and deliver the unexpected. Espen completely understood what was needed to bring the Wally ‘wow factor’ to the fast open market. There is no mistaking it: this is a pure Wally design for a new purpose.”

The company has also revealed a new 101ft high-performance sloop, its first sailing yacht since becoming part of the Ferretti Group. The naval architecture is by Judel / Vrolijk and the exterior styling has been developed by Wally in collaboration with Pininfarina.

The semi-custom project features a new-generation hull shape, powerful sail plan, carbon composite construction, 50cm-high bulwarks and the new Wally Magic keel. Deck and interior layouts, with three to five guest cabins, are based on a flexible platform that can be adapted to owners’ needs.
