During times of distress, people have always turned to music for solace and comfort. Similarly, in an extraordinary period like this, the power of music helps to unite communities, creates a sense of belonging and participation.

The Jazz Association of Singapore (JASS) in celebration of its 5th anniversary is holding a benefit gala, “Let There Be Love”, for jazz and music lovers across the island. Originally, the gala was planned to be a “live” event last year but now it will be conducted virtually. While the event is to be held online, it has not diminished the glitz and glamour of the gala. International jazz diva, Laura Fygi will be captivating the audience with her sultry vocals and accompanied by Jeremy Monteiro, Singapore’s “King of Swing”. The duo, with an ensemble of members from the JASS orchestras, will perform in tandem through the use of the latest extended-reality (XR) technology. Also gracing the event is Mr Edwin Tong, Minister of Culture, Community and Youth as the event’s guest-of-honour.

“It’s an incredible honour for JASS to present the first virtual jazz gala in Singapore and we can’t wait for all of you to enjoy the show. With the latest XR technology and Laura’s delightful appearance, it is bound to be an enchanting experience for all. It’s definitely a show not to be missed,” said Professor Jeremy Monteiro, Executive Director & Music Director, Jazz Association (Singapore).

For gala table buyers, a specially curated dinner will be delivered over for them to enjoy their meal over the evening’s performance. Leading up to the gala, JASS will be hosting the “Best Headdress” Awards from 1 March to 14 March.
