Amnesia

Takahiro Hirabayashi’s morbid Japanese portraits

Apr 13, 2015 | By Staff Writer

Japanese painter Takashiro Hirabayashi is a talented young artist who still applies traditional japanese painting techniques in his contemporary works-while adding his own twists. His paintings feature potraits of beautiful women who have demonic features. One of his most recent paintings, titled Amnesia, features a zombie-looking girl with stunning blue eyes, with subtle blood splatters on her chest. By combining this morbid sci-fi element with his retro-style, he creates a captivating piece of contemporary art. The anime-like features of the subjects give the supposedly disturbing posters a slightly whimsical feel.
