The new MINI Clubvan which was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show is now confirmed for production and will be available in the market in autumn 2012.

The car is described by MINI as the world’s first premium compact delivery van. The model is aimed at customers with small businesses that are looking out for a small utility vehicle.

The exterior dimensions of the Clubvan are exactly the same as those of the Mini Clubman—155.9 inches long, 66.3 inches wide and 56.1 inches tall.

The Mini van eschews rear seats in favor of a flat floor with the rear side windows going too, to make way for metal sides similar to modern delivery vans.

MINI Clubvan will launch with three different models and engines. The MINI One Clubvan gets a 1.6-L petrol engine delivering 97 hp. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.1 seconds and has a top speed of 185 km/h.

The Cooper Clubvan is powered by a 1.6-L petrol engine that produces 121 hp allowing for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 9.8 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h.

The Cooper D model is equipped with a 110 hp four-cylinder diesel that accelerates the van from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds. It has a top speed of 197 km/h.

All three models have a standard six-speed manual gearbox while the Cooper D model has an optional six-speed automatic transmission.

The new Clubvan will make its first debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this week. Pricing details are yet to be announced.

The move is an interesting one from Mini, which has pushed the limits of the design harder than ever in recent years in a bid to boost its cars’ appeal further than its urban support base.

From the original Mini, the brand has spawned coupés, the larger Clubman model, a convertible edition, a Roadster edition and an SUV-styled Countryman model.
