Mercedes-Benz has announced the new 2013 SLS AMG GT that has been improved for better driving dynamics and better on track performance.

The SLS AMG GT will be available both as a Coupé and Roadster complete with a new, optional AMG designo STYLE interior package.

The car is set to go on sale mid-November 2012, replacing previous SLS AMG versions. The new car will be distinguished by darker light lenses front and rear, a unique wheel color and red brake calipers.

Output grows to 583 hp from the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, up from 563 hp in today’s car. Torque remains at 479 lb-ft.

Mercedes engineers have also fitted an optimised AMG Speedshift DCT seven-speed sports transmission with fastershift times and better control overall.

The SLS AMG GT accelerates from zero to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds, and can reach a speed of 200km/h in 11.2 seconds. Top speed is an electronically limited 320km/h.

A sixth model in the SLS AMG lineup is expected to follow in 2013 in the form of the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-CELL, said Daimler. “Mercedes-AMG is planning an exclusive series-production run of the purely electric-driven super sports car,” it said.
