
On Saturday night, Roman Abramovich opened his French Caribbean paradise, the 70-acre Gouverneur Bay Estate, to 400 guests for a New Year’s Eve party.
The Russian oligarch’s guests were informed to dress “island chic.” and were treated to a show from Red Hot Chili Peppers, a buffet and a DJ.
This party cost a reported $5 million and attracted a host of big-names including Rupert Murdoch, George Lucas, Marc Jacobs, Martha Stewart, Mischa Barton, Harvey Weinstein, Georgina Chapman and Jimmy Buffett.


The daughter of a Russian billionaire has broken New York real estate records by paying $88 million for a huge Manhattan apartment, Forbes magazine reported.
Yekaterina Rybolovleva, daughter of former fertilizer magnate Dmitry Rybolovlev, paid full asking price for the multiroom spread at 15 Central Park West.
This is a record for an individual transaction in a city renowned for pricey property. The record was previously owned by Sanford Weill, a former chairman of Citigroup.


The WSJ reported Thursday that Russian billionaire Yuri Milner has paid the highest known price ever for a single-family U.S. home — a whopping $100 million.
The mansion is a French-style chateau in the Loire style set on 18 acres in hills overlooking San Francisco Bay
The home has five bedrooms, a ballroom, wine cellar, gym, tennis courts, spa and pools inside and outside. There’s also a guest house on the property.


Carlos Slim Helu remained the world’s richest person, but Asia is where today’s big money is flowing, Forbes magazine said in its 2011 list of the world’s billionaires.
Slim, who is almost unknown to the general public outside Mexico, weighed in at a staggering $74 billion of net wealth thanks to his telecoms empire. Already the top dog last year, he increased his fortune by $20.5 billion dollars.
In a now familiar second place was Microsoft founder Bill Gates with $56 billion. The relatively lowly ranking reflected his enormous philanthropic give-aways over the year.

After a year-long delay, Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich finally took delivery of the world’s largest and most expensive yacht, the Eclipse.
The “gigayacht” measures anywhere from 533 ft. to 557 ft. (depending on reports), and is the world’s largest privately owned yacht.
The cost of the behemoth has also been variously reported as $500 million – $1 billion. It is the world’s most expensive private yacht either.


Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is reportedly flying in the Black Eyed Peas to perform at his New Year’s Eve party in St Bart’s, the Telegraph reports.
The Russian billionaire owns a $90 million, 70-acre estate on the Caribbean island and the hip hop band will perform for guests seeing in 2011 there.
His estate in St Bart’s, which is situated on a lush hillside, includes swimming pools, pavilions and bungalows with ocean views for guests.
