Paco Rabanne Spring Summer 15

French fashion designer Paco Rabanne is opening a store in Paris. The fragrance and fashion house will reportedly set up shop in the French capital on Rue Cambon, which is also home to Chanel.

The opening could suggest a more emboldened return to retail. Paco Rabanne’s retail location on Rue du Cherche-Midi closed ten years ago.

The fashion label continues to evolve under the reins of creative director Julien Dossena, who took on the role in 2013. Since then, the brand has seen an overhaul of its logo, packaging and labels.


Paco Rabanne introduces Olympéa

Paco Rabanne is expanding its fragrance range with Olympéa, an olfactory ode to a strong and irresistible woman.


After launching the men’s fragrance Invictus, Paco Rabanne returns to the theme of antiquity with an equivalent for women.

Like its masculine counterpart, Olympéa is meant to embody strength, dynamism and athletic conquests, only this time with a sensual feminine side represented by a modern Cleopatra.

A sultry vanilla accord

To develop the new scent, Paco Rabanne enlisted the help of Loc Dong, Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion. The three noses built their fragrance around a contrast between the sensuality of an original salted vanilla accord and the freshness of floral and marine scents.

Opening notes of green mandarin, ginger flower and water jasmine give way to the vanilla accord at the perfume’s heart, which is followed by base notes of sandalwood and ambergris.

Created by designer Marc Ange, the flacon for Olympéa combines a modern esthetic with symbols borrowed from antiquity, including wings and laurel leaves.

To embody its new fragrance, Paco Rabanne chose Brazilian supermodel and L’Oréal Paris spokesperson Luma Grothe. The wide-eyed young woman is the face of Olympéa in a short advertising film, the fourth directed by Alexandre Courtès for Paco Rabanne.

Olympéa arrives in stores from August 17. Price: €48 for 30ml, €68 For 50ml, €88 for 80ml.

Paco Rabanne to introduce new 1 Million

As summer approaches, Paco Rabanne has a new fragrance on the way. The brand will offer a sensual variation of its iconic men’s fragrance 1 Million from March 1.

The fragrance, called 1 Million Intense, has top notes of blood mandarin, cardamom, black pepper and saffron. Rose absolute, neroli and cinnamon form the perfume’s heart. The base is made up of white leather, orris root, patchouli and sandalwood. Prices start at 56 euros for a 50 ml spray.

The 2 stars of Lady Million and 1 Million – Dree Hemingway and Matt Gordon – will be back for the new campaign. The shots by Nathaniel Goldberg and the black & white video by Paul Gore were inspired by iconic Hollywood imagery, especially Goldfinger.

Paco Rabanne label returns to ready-to-wear

Manish Arora

Paco Rabanne will be returning to the fashion world after a five-year hiatus, this time with Indian fashion designer Manish Arora at its helm as artistic director.

Arora will present Paco Rabanne’s first ready-to-wear collection since 2006 at Paris Fashion Week next October, the company said in a statement.

The New Delhi-based designer — known for his psychedelic colours and kitsch motifs — will take over a house made famous by its linked-metal women’s wear.

The Designers’ Christmas Trees


On December 08, 2009 Marie Christiane Marek hosted “The Designers’ Christmas Trees” at the Cite de l’architecture et du patrimoine in Paris.

World-famous designers have sold 20 Christmas trees for a total of 41,500€ to be donated to The Foundation headed by France’s First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.

Since 1996 several famous names have taken part, including Stella McCartney, Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs.
