New Faces of Dior Homme FW’16 Campaign

Shot by Willy Vanderperre and styled by Olivier Rizzo, Dior Homme’s campaign for Fall/Winter 2016 sees influential gentlemen such as Larry Clark and A$AP Rocky working in front of the camera.

Personally handpicked by Dior Homme creative director Kris Van Assche for their free-spirited and rebellious attitudes, the four men, including French actor Rod Paradot and model Dylan Roques, appear in the simple yet dynamic series of images, decked in the season’s skate-inspired pieces.

A$AP Rocky – naturally headliner of the campaign – needs no introduction. This isn’t the Fashion Killa’s first foray into the industry; he has a collaboration with fashion powerhouse J.W. Anderson in the works. “I really like his personal style and taste. He’s a real fashion lover. Larry Clark (above), cult filmmaker and photographer lends his dark, brooding personality to the campaign, dressed in an embellished coat and a pair of the atelier’s signature shades. Perhaps best known for his 1995 film Kids, the 73-year-old is arguably more famous for his photography book Tulsa.

Also looking spiffy in the season’s coats and formalwear are 20-year-old French actor Rod Paradot (below) – a César Award winner who embodies the vigor of today’s millennials – and French model Dylan Roques (above), who also happens to be Van Assche’s muse of the season.

Burberry Ads Star Edie Campbell, Callum Turner

Burberry released the first new images for their autumn collection 2016 starring Edie Campbell and Callum Turner. It is the second time the pair have fronted the British brand together. The campaign, shot by Mario Testino, casts the spotlight on the Patchwork handbag, of which no two are alike.

Each bag is named after a British city, town, or street. Also collaborating on the campaign is British illustrator Luke Edward Hall, tapped to create complementary sketches. You can see two examples of what he’s done, above and below.

Also new from Burberry, as soon as the campaign hits in June, customers will be able to buy what they see online, print and on the catwalk without having to wait for the traditional gap between showing and selling, notes WWD.

Léa Seydoux Named Louis Vuitton Campaign Girl

Léa Seydoux goes from Bond Girl to campaign girl for Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2016 campaign. Decked out in the label’s athletic and cyberpunk pieces, the Spectre actress portrays a “daring, confident heroine who is constantly on the move” within the modernist compounds of Cuadra San Christobal. The “travel” campaign is lensed by the famed Patrick Demarchelier and styled by Marie-Amélie Sauvé.

Campbell, Crawford and Schiffer Shine for Balmain

Remember those names? If you think Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer might be the new big names in 2016, well, you should go hang your head in shame. Balmain has gone with the 1990s icons of fashion for its Spring/Summer 2016 campaign. In a year already dominated by the nostalgia machine known as Star Wars, we have to wonder if Balmain artistic director Olivier Rousteing is not on to something. The images you see here debuted on the brand’s Instagram account and we were very pleased to see the trio in action again – and all together.

Rousteing teased the campaign with the hashtags #waitandsee, #dreamscometrue, #iconic and #youwillalwaysremember so we are pretty sure he knows what he is doing here. Photographer Steven Klein is responsible for the minimalistic series, showing off the bodycon silhouettes that we are assured will be important for the current Spring/Summer season. We are not sure about the fringes but the crisscross detailing is intriguing. At this point, we are just waiting to see how many publications make a big deal of the supermodel trio’s ages. We also have just one question for Balmain: Were Evangelista, Turlington and Patitz not available? #imaginethepossibilities #keepthefaith.

Fresh Faces for Chloé SS 2016 Campaign

Chloé rolled out its first campaign from the minds of its brand new creative team for Spring/Summer 2016. Set in the bustle of Buenos Aires, the campaign embraces the bohemian spirit of the “Paris of South America,” showcasing the collection against the backdrop of cobblestones and mosaic-tiled footpaths.

Smiling and carefree, a cast of Chloé girls from the Spring-Summer 2016 runway embody the Chloé spirit of diverse, natural beauty.

It sees models Céline Bouly and Ari Westphal make their debut as the brand new faces of the brand, alongside returning stars Antonina Petkovic and Ilvie Wittek.

Shot by US photographer Theo Wenner as his first campaign for the French label, the campaign focuses on the season’s technicolor ombré silk dresses and athletic, romantic separates featuring printed lace and colorful tassels. The time of day shifts subtly throughout the series and the sun-drenched images invoke a spontaneous and cinematic vibe.

“This campaign is very exciting for me because I really wanted to create a new energy for Chloé this season,” Clare Waight Keller, Chloé Creative Director, explains. “Theo is a photographer I have worked with several times before, and I really appreciate his youthful eye and spontaneity behind the lens. Likewise, I wanted to bring new faces to Chloé as they represent a more adventurous, free-spirited, impulsive side of the Chloé girl.”

Wenner added: “There was a color and quality to the light on location, like there is dust in the air, and it made everything more vivid. These colors and textures seemed to perfectly embody the spirit of Chloé and this collection.”

Chloé has been mixing things up with its recent campaigns – recruiting personal friend of the brand and founder of the magazine “hey woman!” Veronika Heilbrunner to model in its 2015 Snow Collection campaign last fall.

Anna Ewers and Clément Chabernaud for Boss SS16

German fashion brand Boss has revealed the first photos of its Spring-Summer 2016 ad campaign, which is centered around nature and architecture. The campaign has been photographed by the Dutch duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

As with previous Boss campaigns, the duo Inez & Vinoodh has been chosen to immortalize the spirit of the new Spring-Summer 2016 collection, envisioned by artistic director Jason Wu.

The campaign, which was shot in Montauk, New York, celebrates nature, and plays with movement and perspective.

Boss has called upon the French model Clément Chabernaud to be the face of its menswear line for this latest collection. He prevoiusly represented the brand for the Fall-Winter 2015 and holiday 2015 campaigns. He models the Signature line, which is dominated by bright colors, camouflage and a sportswear feel.

The German top model Anna Ewers, who was voted female model of the year in 2015 by Models.com, is the face of the women’s collection, which features light dresses in plissé organza.

On the accessories front, the Bespoke bag, which has a graphic patchwork design, is at the heart of this new collection.

Lightning Strikes Louis Vuitton SS 2016 campaign

Geeks and nerds are the fashion industry’s largest untapped market…and it is a growth market at that. Well the Internet is abuzz with news that no less an august fashion house than Louis Vuitton is rolling out it latest Spring/Summer 2016 campaign with a little help from Lightning, a character from the immensely successful “Final Fantasy” video game franchise.

The AFP reports that Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière has cast this character as the lead in the campaign. Of course this does not mean Louis Vuitton will be suddenly find its way into gaming conventions or that the brand will be opening a flagship store at the Googleplex but we think it is a harbinger of things to come.

Ghesquière revealed the first images from the campaign in two posts on Instagram, Monday December 28, showing the RPG character Lightning modeling looks direct from the SS 2016 runway show, which had strong references to digital technology and gaming.

The brand partnered with Japanese artist Tetsuya Nomura of Square Enix (developers of “Final Fantasy”) to create the animations.

Ruth and May Bell for Burberry SS 2016

Our friends at L’Officiel Singapore have a fine feature out on the Burberry Spring/Summer 2016 advertising campaign, featuring the hottest up-and-coming talents in the fashion world. We picked up this story from the AFP service but should you want more details, check out the story here. There is a video and lots of other fun stuff there.

This is one campaign that features none of our models-of-the-moment, especially our recent favorites Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner. Instead, we have British models Bella Yentob, Hayett Belarbi McCarthy, Eliza Fairbanks, Misha Hart, Liam Gardner, Sol Goss, Ben Gregory and Louie Johnson in the campaign, joined by Pierce Brosnan’s son Dylan and twins Ruth and May Bell (whom the AFP identify as Dylan’s sisters, which is quite amusing). Other news sources are playing up Dylan’s shirtless shot, which you can also see over at L’Officiel Singapore.

The campaign showcases the brand’s newest ready-to-wear and accessories collections, including its made-in-England Heritage Trench Coats, Scottish-woven scarves, ponchos and latest bag styles. Captured by the renowned fashion photographer Mario Testino, it was shot in London under the creative direction of Burberry Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bailey.

Versace Goes Gigi for SS16

Italian fashion label Versace is featuring Gigi Hadid in its Spring/ Summer 2016 campaign visuals. So, it is not that we have soft spot for Hadid, just a symptom of an overwhelming media stampede towards the latest It Girl. There are other candidates though, as we showed in this story about 2015’s usual suspects.

In this newest bit of Gigi Hadid news, Versace is the latest fashion brand to feature her, but the brand is hedging its bets by also including Raquel Zimmerman and Natasha Poly. Some sources are calling Poly and Zimmerman veterans…the horror. L’Officiel Singapore ran this news first and we are just revisiting for some additional details. In particular, we wondered why we are looking at the California salt flats and who that seemingly random guy in the background is. Also, this shot below has so much going on we don’t know what to say…

Well Versace and the AFP inform us that the male model here is fitness instructor and mixed martial artist Lukasz Grabowski. His appearance, while seemingly a throwaway, is actually a teaser for the men’s campaign, which also features Benjamin Benedek and Nathaniel Visser. As for the salt flats, we still have no clue what’s going on there so we’re going back to looking at the pictures and trying tell the models apart from one another.

Hadid, Smalls and Aldridge front for Stuart Weitzman

Will the Internet break? Gigi Hadid, Joan Smalls and Lily Aldridge are doing a literal interpretation of Stuart Weitzman’s Nudist collection. The supermodel trio pose in just their stilettos in the latest campaign for shoemaker Stuart Weitzman.

The models have been named as the new ‘face’ of the brand, replacing Brazilian fashion icon Gisele Bündchen in the role.

Shot by renowned fashion photographer Mario Testino, the brand’s spring 2016 advertising campaign comprises a minimalist black-and-white image with the three models hugging one another while staring into the camera. The campaign was designed to evoke the “intimate relationship between a woman and her shoes.”

Weitzman chose the trio for their “social relevance and fashion-forward trendsetter statuses,” as well as their shared girl-next-door aesthetic. According to the brand, the fact that the women are all friends in real life was also a draw, as it plays into the perception of shoes bringing girlfriends together, “from shoe shopping to shoe sharing to shoe closet envy.”

The fourth star of the campaign is the “Nearly Nude”, Weitzman’s new block-heel version of his popular “Nudist” sandal. The chunky heel and minimalist straps give the shoe a modern edge which matches the simplicity of the global campaign.

The new ad is the latest in a series of ‘It-model’ campaigns by the US footwear label, with previous commercials featuring former brand ambassadors Kate Moss and Gisele, who also starred in the brand’s first TV commercial, a choreographed visual storytelling/music video, earlier this fall. The label has also been focusing on its artistic collaborations by partnering with brands such as Swarovski and launching a short film with filmmaker Julia Restoin-Roitfeld on a short film at the end of last year.

Founded by the US designer Stuart Weitzman, the luxury brand was built upon the idea of creating a beautifully-constructed shoe, blending fashion and function. The award-winning designer now operates 58 retail stores across the United States and in Europe, with footwear and accessories sold in more than 70 countries.

Scarf It: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for Burberry

British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley feels a bit of chill in fashion brand Burberry’s latest campaign for the holiday season; as part of its Burberry Festive Campaign, the brand has revealed a racy new shot of Huntington-Whiteley modeling a monogrammed Heritage Check Scarf.

Other shots see Huntington-Whiteley mugging with fellow ambassadors model Naomi Campbell and English musician James Bay. The campaign, which also includes a short film featuring Romeo Beckham, was inspired by the British dance-drama “Billy Elliot”.

Huntington-Whiteley (an SEO nightmare name – Ed) is also known for her work as an ambassador for Victoria’s Secret lingerie, as well as acting roles in “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

In a teaser clip from the H&M collaboration with Balmain campaign, Kendall Jenner shows off some dances moves in a futuristic fashion shoot.

The Balmain x H&M campaign may be launching on November 5, but on October 20 the two brands are celebrating the collaboration early with a party and a shopping event in NYC.

To further increase publicity for the launch, Yahoo Style has published an exclusive behind-the-scenes preview of the new campaign.

In the video, model Kendall Jenner is seen practicing the choreography for the fashion shoot alongside professional dancers.

Fellow models Gigi Hadid and Jourdan Dunn will also appear in the final campaign, but only Jenner starred in the teaser video, which was directed by Johan Sandberg and Henrik Timonen.

L’Oréal’s newest brand ambassador is an influential 21-year-old blogger and member of the Instagram glitterati, Kristina Bazan.

Better known as the beauty behind the blog Kayture, the digital style maven has been appointed the new face of L’Oreal Paris, a gig coveted by the world’s most beautiful, high-powered celebrities.

The Swiss beauty boasts 2 million followers on Instagram, and receives 2 million views a month on her blog.

“She shows us that any woman can create bold and sophisticated makeup looks, and feel good about herself,” said Cyril Chapuy, brand global president in an interview with WWD.

“She designs her own beauty and has this incredible ability to openly share and inspire women all around the world.”

Bazan has been covering beauty, fashion, lifestyle and travel on her blog since 2011. In her new role, the blogger will co-create content with the brand, covering color cosmetics at events and for digital platforms.

Spanish clothing company Mango has released images of soccer star and Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane as part of a new campaign.

Zidane was in the French capital for Paris Fashion Week, where he posed for Mango’s photographers and answered questions about the new line.

Beige, camel, khaki, brown, indigo blue and shades of grey characterize the line, which Zidane admired for its simplicity and cut.

Born in Marseille to Algerian parents, Zidane played for Cannes and Bordeaux before moving to Juventus and Real Madrid, where he remains as coach of development team Real Madrid Castilla.

The three-time FIFA World Player of the Year has previously appeared on behalf of Adidas, Audi, Christian Dior and Lego, among others.

The full H&M campaign film featuring David Beckham and actor and comedian Kevin Hart has been unveiled.

“Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham featuring Kevin Hart” sees the funny guy playing a method actor preparing to take on the role of Beckham. He moves into the soccer star’s house as part of his preparation for the audition, offering a lighthearted look into the UK superstar’s world.

“Kevin Hart is one of the funniest, smartest guys around,” says Beckham. “I love to do the unexpected for my H&M campaigns. I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as I did making it.”

The film is part of the campaign for the brand’s ‘Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham’ collection, launched earlier this year. It will show in cinemas and on TV on September 30, alongside a print campaign.

The British luxury brand famously fronted by David Beckham has added Liv Tyler as the new face for its women’s collection.

The star of “The Leftovers” previously produced a campaign film for the brand that starred Beckham and went live this week.

In her new role as brand ambassador, reports WWD, she’ll be the face of a 2016 ad campaign and will also help design a capsule collection to be unveiled in February during London Fashion Week.

Other female celebrities that have been associated with the brand include Kate Moss and Amelia Earhart.

H&M has announced that Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Jourdan Dunn are fronting the print campaign to promote its new collection, in collaboration with Balmain.

The trio joins male models Hao Yun Xiang and Dudley O’Shaughnessy in the campaign, which will hit print and billboards worldwide.

The campaign for the Balmain x H&M collection, designed by Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, shows the models in a futuristic urban subway scene.

Balmain is the latest designer to collaborate with H&M on a collection, and will include women’s and men’s styles and accessories. It will be available at H&M stores worldwide starting November 5.

David Beckham Belstaff Outlaws film unveiled

Update: David Beckham has made his small-screen debut as the rough-and-tumble bad boy in Belstaff’s 18-minute short film, Outlaws, in which he stars alongside Harvey Keitel, Katherine Waterston and Cathy Moriarty.

David Beckham has teamed up with his old friends at Belstaff, and this time the star is taking center stage.

The former football champion appears in “Outlaws,” a short surrealist film for the British fashion house shot on location in Mexico, reports WWD.

Produced by Hollywood actress Liv Tyler and starring Harvey Keitel, Katherine Waterston and Cathy Moriarty, it features a motorcycle stuntman haunted by memories of a beautiful trapeze artist. It is set for release during London Fashion Week at the brand’s September 22 catwalk show, with a global premiere taking place on September 21.

The film, which was written and directed by Geremy Jasper, is the latest chapter in Beckham’s long-running relationship with Belstaff.

The soccer star has previously collaborated with the brand on Beckham x Belstaff, a collection of leather jackets, basic tees and denim wear.

He also starred in the brand’s Spring/Summer 2014 campaign, which included a short film depicting the sportsman traveling across the English countryside with fellow models Tom Firth, Christian Gajdus and Will Bowden as part of a ‘band of brothers’.
