A. Lange & Söhne’s 1815 “Homage to Walter Lange” commemorates the company founder, Walter Lange

German luxury watchmaker, A. Lange & Söhne reveals the traditional 1815 model in three colours, updated with an extraordinary complication to pay homage to the company founder, Walter Lange, who passed away in January 2017.

“There’s something one should expect not only of a watch but also of oneself: to never stand still.“ – Walter Lange

Although he had been through life marred by World War II, Walter Lange never stood still. He took after his family tradition and became a watchmaker. From there, he had crafted a niche for himself and produced some of the world’s most impressive timepieces that were simple in design, yet with technically exciting complication.

This single piece: The 297.078 reference model has been enhanced with a stoppable jumping seconds hand to pay homage to the former company founder, dating back to a 150-year-old invention by his great-grandfather Ferdinand Adolph Lange.

This watch is simple in design; it features a 40.5mm case made of stainless steel and the black enamel dial is inspired by the design of historic pocket watches, with the traditional railway-track minute scale and polished hands.

The newly developed movement carries the special calibre number L1924, referring to Walter Lange’s year of birth, and the first three numbers of the reference number, 297, cites his date of birth, July 29.

In addition to the 297.078 reference model, the limited edition watches are available in yellow (limited to 27 timepieces), white (limited to 145 timepieces)  and pink gold (limited to 90 timepieces).
