New Apple iPhone 3G
Almost one year after the original Apple iPhone went on sale, Apple has unveiled a new 3G version of its popular iPhone that will go on sale on 11 July (tomorrow!)
The addition of 3G support is a big win : This will allow users to surf the internet at faster speeds than is currently possible on the original iPhone. If data speeds hold up as Jobs demonstrated, the new iPhone really will put the internet in your pocket.
It will also feature built-in GPS technology, which will enable users to use their iPhone as a satellite-navigation device both in-car and on-foot using Google Maps.
iPhone 3G isn't perfect, but there's a lot to like here : Though the iPhone 3G is thinner at the edges than its predecessor. The 8GB model will come in black only, while Apple promises the 16GB version in back and white.
In the US the phone retails for US$199 for the 8GB model (down from $399) and US$299 for the 16GB version (down from $599). Indeed, Steve Jobs said that one of the main reasons people had given for not buying the handset was that it was too expensive.
It will be rolled out to 70 countries worldwide over the next few months. More than six million iPhones had been sold globally since the device first went on sale in the US in July 2007.

Available only in Louis Vuitton’s Manhattan store, prices begin at $225 from the monogram canvas style to $1,120 for the alligator case.

Gresso Unveils White Diamonds Collection
Gresso, the Russian luxury phone manufacturer, will soon release two highly expensive handsets, included in the new "Avantgarde White Diamonds" collection.
After the Sol Steel and Luna Steel devices were unveiled, the new collection includes two new mobiles called Gresso White Diamonds and Gresso Royal White Diamonds.
In terms of design, the new phones are not different from the other handsets that Gresso rolled-out until now - their hand-assembled body panels are made out of 200-year old African blackwood, the keyboards have a base plate made of titanium, their stainless steel battery cover has a magnetic lock plus leather and gold decoration.
The displays of the two new Gresso handsets are covered by 42K sapphire crystal glass, their keys are made out of 18K gold and as a signature feature - all the numbers on the keypad are laser-cut in Roman style.
But what makes the new devices different is their keypad, for which the manufacturer used diamonds :
Gresso White Diamonds is the "cheap" device from the two new ones, coming for 9,000 Euros (about $14,135). Aside from the materials listed above, the handset also brings white diamonds, crafted into its navigation pad.
The Gresso Royal White Diamonds is the more expensive one of the two. Only 200 units will be produced making it a limited edition handset. All of its 23 gold keys are crowned with a total of 2.53K of white diamonds. It will be priced at 33000 euro (about $52,000).
The collection will be presented at JCK Las Vegas Show, the leading jewellery fair in the USA, which debuts on May 30. Shortly after, the luxury handsets should be available for purchase.

Dior - Luxury Phone

French luxury-goods company Christian Dior Wednesday will unveil a line of mobile phones, extending beyond its traditional fashion business to boost sales.
The new Dior phone, priced from €3,500 ($5,000) and up, comes after competitors such as Prada SpA and Dolce & Gabbana have turned their fashion-branded mobile phones into significant businesses. The phones will be made by a small French manufacturer, ModeLabs Group.
Dior Chief Executive Sidney Toledano says the idea of creating a Dior phone was driven by demand in new luxury markets such as China and Russia. "In the same way that we have developed our watch and jewelry lines, we want to increase sales with the phone,". He expects to sell at least 10,000 of them a year at the beginning and hopes to reach annual sales of €200 million in the longer term.
"What really convinced us was seeing the attention people in emerging markets pay to buying a phone, by selecting the color and design,". In Europe and the U.S., in contrast, phones are seen as more disposable commodities, he said.
Dior's new phone, which will work world-wide, except in Japan and Korea, where it isn't compatible with local wireless networks, is priced higher than rival fashion phones, closer to the price range of Nokia Corp.'s premium line Vertu, which also starts in the $5,000 range. Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Giorgio Armani SpA all have phones out that cost around $600.
