Decorative Lighting Ideas by Rothschild and Bickers

Rothschild & Bickers combines traditional techniques with cutting edge design. The ideas to "combine a contemporary free blown form with sumptuous fabric tassel" are inspired by Victorian opulence and can be used "equally well in both modern and period interiors."

Made in one of the last glass workshops in the United Kingdom, these decorative lighting fixtures are inspired by both the past and the future.

Find a special corner of your home to welcome one of these truly precious lights – then contact Rothschild and Bickers in the London workshop. Via Trendir

Tassel Light
Inspired by Victorian decadence, these lights combine a contemporary free blown form with sumptuous fabric tassel. By blending these elements the Tassel light sits equally well in both modern and period interiors.

Black Nouveau
This opulent range of black glass is made using traditional free blown techniques to create elegant fluid forms with a shiny rich reflective quality. The open frill comes with a chrometopped bulb, which illuminates it internally and allows it to be viewed from below.

Opulent Optic
This light combines classic form and rich vibrant colours to infuse an oriental flavour. The optical glass has a precious jewel quality that emanates diffused shadows of colour through out the room.

Vintage Light
This flamboyant light is made from free blown glass with a lavish cascade of fringe.
This design embodies a sense of vintage grandeur that emphasises the flowing form.

Grande Utopia EM Loudspeakers

All of us would want speakers that symbolises the wealth we posses. Fret not, there's the Grande Utopia EM! It is an awesome speaker that takes up the responsibility of showing how grand a lifestyle you really want to live. The 4-way floorstanding bass-reflex loudspeakers are enough to make your visitors and guests feel puny and less endowed.

The Grande Utopia EM crosses the limits of decadence by offering an audio quality that is unsurpassed. It offers a mechanical adjustment in order to optimize the “Sweet Spot”, which is apparently the G-Spot of perfect listening. The drivers are another unique feature, with unmatched technology and science going in to each one of them.

If all these specifications were not enough, even King Midas would frown upon you. The speakers retails at a "loud" $180,000.

Schimmel's Glamorous Glass Piano

This isn’t a piano you can allow your kids to flounder with! As it is, Schimmel is the brand that is behind its creation; therefore, until your tot becomes an expert pianist, you dare not allow him/her touch it. Dubbed the K213, Schimmel chooses one of the most brittle yet elegant material; glass, to enclose the exterior of the instrument.

The K213 isn’t just elegant for its design as the quality of music it rendered is equally classy. The only place where you would find iron is beneath strings that produce the magical symphony. This piano is definitely not for the space drenched halls but has pride of place in rich homes and gatherings. It just soaks in the party atmosphere while on display.

In order to add that extra bit of shimmer to the dazzlingly opulent parties, it would cost the one an estimated $124,780 to own this glamorous piano.

Sink with horizontal drain

These sinks with patented ‘Horizontal Integrated Siphon’ technology (basically a horizontal drain) were introduced by Italian company Axolute at FuoriSalone 2008 and will revolutionise your bathroom design.

The stunning polished stainless sink features the HIS system, which replaces the traditional drain pipe usually visible underneath basins. Instead, the water flows along the slot of the front of the basin and back into the wall connection.

The lack of pipes underneath makes these designs particularly effective when mounted by themselves, as well as highly convenient to be fitted over a vanity unit.

They are available now at Axolute’s website

The Ridemaster Pro Simulator

"Devoted equestrians can now trot and canter in the comfort of their own home thanks to the world's most advanced rocking horse.

The $80,000 virtual reality riding machine called Ridemaster Pro combines a mechanical horse with a host of electronic sensors and a screen to recreate the joys of an outdoor ride without the need for mucking out.."

Its makers, Racewood Simulators, say the Ridemaster Pro enables horse lovers to use normal riding techniques to trot, canter and prompt any number of advanced manoeuvres for those who don’t have space for a horse.

It is pretty cost effective though as you don't have any maintainance costs like food, vets, cleaning and you don't need the space or a dressage arena .

"With one of our simulators you can ride at any time of day in a centrally heated or air-conditioned environment” said company managing director Bill Greenwood. "We also sell to Scandinavian countries where the weather is miserable and raining and to Dubai where it's 40 degrees centigrade and too hot to ride."

The Ridemaster Pro comes with a screen upfront which displays a number of courses and to replicate a real horse closely, users will sit on a synthetic horse model that gives real time feedback. A calorie counter can be added.

For $80,000, you will look ultra stupid just riding away to nowhere but I admit If you want to teach large groups of completely unskilled riders the basics, this would be more cost effective than a comparable number of well-trained horses.

Vlaemsch() - RendezVous

Summer is in the Air so it is time to redecorate your walls and give them a “luxury touch”. Are you ready for a change?

Casimir, one of the leading designers of his generation in Belgium, has been producing and distributing furniture designs under his own name since 1995.

His designs are characterised by his use of warm, rich varieties of wood. Although his comfortable, sturdy pieces of furniture wouldn't have been unfamiliar to Breughel, Casimir's use of surrealism, through some clever optical illusions and semiotic, adds a new dimension.

He established recently the Vlaemsch()-collection. Vlaemsch() stands for Flemisch traditions, humour, design, simplicity, sensible, the surreal, no-nensense, quality and solidity, and combines creativity with the highest level of quality : quality of design and quality of product.

Casimir works together with a team of international designers and Wallpapers “RendezVous1&2” are their latest creations :

Carmen Devos for Tickle magazine said “These “naughty” patterns take their inspiration from those repetitive floral garland patterns which so many of our forebears were exceptionally fond of.

It is only upon re-focussing our eyes, inclining your head slightly to the left and humming the Brabançonne that you may discover yourself surrounded by intertwining figures, salaciously winding themselves around your walls in never-ending twists and turns of shameless sensuality.”

They are both available in three colors (black on beige, red on red and silver on beige) at their online store.
The vinyl papers come in 0.53 x 10m rolls at 70 euros each!

Buy your own Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton

Have you ever wanted a full-size Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton for your own? Jurassic park is your favourite movie ever and you have 40 feet available in your studio ? then the Tyrannosaurus rex fossil replica is for you.

Made to order, the replicas are 40' long and 12' high at the hip. The position can vary based on your house's layout or where you want to keep him in your front yard. Each STAN T. rex skeleton is constructed according to your creative needs. Whether you want your skeleton walking, stalking, attacking, running, jumping or looking your visitors right in the eye!

The strong, steel support structure is hidden within the bones, allowing the eye to follow the in-motion appearance of this impressive, crowd-pleasing fossil skeleton replica.

STAN (the original fossil) is the largest, most complete, Tyrannosaurus rex, of the male morphotype, ever found. It has been discovered in what had once been the sandy bank of an ancient stream, the bones of the skeleton and skull were separated and spread over a wide area. Spring floods eventually covered the bones with mud where they remained buried for more than 65 million years. This disarticulation resulted in near perfect preservation of the skull.

Available on The Black Hills Institute of Geological Research for $100,000! only
