The world's largest diamond

Another large diamond has been found at the Letseng mine in Lesotho, a small kingdom in South Africa.

The stone weighs 478 carats and is the 20th largest rough diamond ever found and it may become the largest ever polished round diamond.

Another similar sized rough stone from the same mine was recently valued at $12million. But the clarity and round shape of the new gem mean it could be worth considerably more and in its polished state could sell for tens of millions of dollars.

A spokesman for Gem Diamonds, who own the mine, added that initial examination suggested that the white diamond, which has yet to be named and valued, has a completely flawless centre.

It is estimated to be capable of producing a 150 carat polished gem stone, dwarfing the Koh-i-Noor diamond which is part of the Crown Jewels.

Diamond Studded Lotus Europa

It's been 60 years of Lotus, and in that time the British cottage automaker has produced a bevy of light, tossable cars that capture the essence of spirited driving.

Now, Lotus has teamed up with Winsor Bishop to bring you this luxurious car which has 164 diamonds (in total), studded in the rev counter, speed dials and many other places. The £111,000 worth of diamonds are then highlighted by using LED lights.

On the outside the diamond anniversary Europa gets a unique paint finish that combines a high gloss black base with tiny glass flakes to give the car the appearance that it is being showered with diamonds.

The great thing is, even with all the bling, the car doesn’t lack any engineering as it comes with the latest technology. The opulent car is truly an exclusive piece and is expected to retail at £150,000 ($260,000).

Lotus will publically display the car at its headquarters in Hethel, England, albeit with one caveat: the car, when on display, will wear fake diamonds for security reasons.

The most expensive LCD TV in the world

Here is an item that was displayed for the first time at Berlin's International Consumer Electronics Fair in 2006.

Italian maker Keymat Industries produced this most expensive LCD panel in the world. It is not the technology behind it that makes it uber-expensive, but the diamonds around it.

Studded with four grams of diamonds (the 40 inch model has 160 real diamonds embedded around the screen), and plated with white gold, the YALOS Diamond LCD is available in 26, 32, 37, 40 and 46 inch sizes. The 40 inch model costs $150,000.

With so much diamonds around the screen, I’m wondering how I could keep my focus on any TV program ! (Luckily, I can’t afford it).

Onassis Jewelry Sale

A diamond necklace that used to belong to Christina Onassis, daughter of Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis, sold at auction on Wednesday for $7.1 million.

The necklace, with a 38-carat pear-shaped diamond, was the highlight of the Onassis jewelery auction at Christie's in London. It is a reminder of the glamour associated with the Onassis family and a fitting example of the great jewelry and art the Onassis family was known for collecting

Christina Onassis was the only daughter of Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, who went on to marry JF Kennedy's widow Jacqueline.
She lived a life of luxury, but there was tragedy too, as she lost both her parents and a brother within the space of two years. Christina died in 1987 of a heart attack. She was just 37 years old.
Her jewelery collection was put on sale by her daughter Athina.

The auction also included the so-called Faberge Buddha which sold for $2.5 million : This was a jade-colored Buddha by Peter Carl Faberge, renowned for creating ornamental eggs for Russia's imperial family.
