Abyss Table

Riding a wave of layered tabletops, Christopher Duff’s Abyss Table uses stacked sheets of glass and wood to create a bathymetric effect and is to be given a limited run of merely 25.

A £6,960 (US$11,900) price tag for the eyecatching piece isn’t the only factor that helps ensure the coffee table’s exclusivity.

A year in development, Christopher Duff’s furniture design was inspired by a moment of inspiration at a glass manufacturing plant, where successive layers of clear glass lent an impressive depth effect.

As Colossal notes, this is the latest in a miniature zeitgeist of living room furnishings to sport a layered look, following the sculptural work of Ben Young, and Greg Klassen‘s reclaimed wood and glass collection, River.
