The latest entrant to the SLR range is the Stirling Moss, a sports car inspired by the Mercedes 300 SLRs driven by racing legend Sterling Moss in the ‘50s. It might be the last SLR from the duo.
The Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss enjoys the same supercharged V8 engine that allows the roadster to achieve 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 217mph.
The roofless Stirling Moss features smaller “swing-doors” with a two-piece tonneau cover that can cover either the entire cockpit or just the passenger side. A retractable air brake, like the one on the Veyron, automatically deploys during hard braking from speeds above 75mph. Continue reading →

Part of the GLK collection, the new iPhone pouch is crafted from the finest quality white nappa leather with crisp cut-out transparent GLK lettering– a characteristic feature of the entire GLK Collection – that has been lavishly trimmed with CRYSTALLIZED™ Swarovski Elements.
The effect is eye-catching: when the iPhone is actually inserted and the display is activated, the refraction of light through the fine-cut crystals ensures that the GLK lettering shimmers in an attractive play of colours. Inside the GLK iPhone® pouch is lined with a special magenta-coloured fabric.
Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH has been working closely with the Austrian crystal specialist Swarovski for some time now. The strictly limited edition of 40 exclusive, glittering iPhone® pouches will be exclusively raffled for invited guests of Mercedes-Benz in the Lounge.
Only 40 are set for immediate production, with each set to be raffled for invited guests of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in the Lounge. But not to worry, the iPhone pouch will certainly make its official debut as part of the Mercedes GLK Collection come October. Though, for drivers of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, the GLK-Class offers a convenient and secure connection for the iPhone on board with the usual multifunction steering wheel control.
Mercedes-Benz describes the F700 as “a futuristic interpretation of the classic saloon†and predicts much of the technology it previews will begin appearing on production models within the next decade as emission regulations become ever more stringent and buyer expectations are boosted by advances in other fields, most significantly those in consumer electronics.
While officials are quick to play down the relevance of the new four-door’s styling, Mercedes-Benz sources Drive spoke to suggest various themes explored within its body are likely to be developed further before being committed to production, including its bold front-end treatment which is said to preface the look of its future line-up.
More than its radically styled exterior, however, it is the one-off saloon’s compact variable compression twin-turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder DiesOtto petrol engine that Mercedes-Benz promises will have the biggest bearing on its future model range.
The new DiesOtto engine is claimed to offer the power, smoothness and low emissions of a typical petrol engine in combination with the torque, flexibility and frugal properties of a diesel. The new engine is capable of switching between two distinctively different ignition processes depending on the driving conditions.
