Fashion designer Stella McCartney will oversee the design of the athletes’ clothing for the British team at the 2012 London Olympics.

She has been appointed creative director for Team GB at the Olympic and Paralympic Games and will help shape the clothing to be made by Adidas.

The British Olympic Association said it was the first time in the history of the Games that a designer will work with a sports brand to design the team’s kit.

A marketing company called Stylophane has developed a new index that ranks brands by Facebook followers, with its list highlighting the popularity of sportswear brands in comparison to luxe brands including Burberry and Gucci.

The top five of Stylophane’s Facebook Fashion Index are dominated by sportswear brands Adidas, Nike, Puma, and Lacoste (in descending order), with Swedish fast fashion retailer H&M — in third place — being the only exception.

It is not until spot six that high-fashion labels are mentioned, with social media forerunner Burberry leading the pack, followed by Chanel (8) and Gucci (9).

Adidas and porsche design have collaborated on a new collection of footwear for the spring / summer season of 2010, focusing on the theme of ‘water / snow’.

With the Spring/Summer 2010 collection Porsche Design Sport enters its seventh season.

The footwear highlight product is the “AC Bowman” (above), which uses shock-absorbing adiPRENE.

Porsche Design and Adidas have teamed up once again for their latest Fall/Winter 2009 Collection.

The collection includes a wide variety of goods for men, women and children, for a variety of uses including golf, tennis, skiing, running and, of course, driving.

This is Porsche Design, after all. And for this season they’ve added a splash of color, although the beiges, taupes, grays and blacks are still well represented.
