
The Oyster Box, one of South Africa’s most lavish hotels, will host a reception for Prince Albert II of Monaco and his new bride, Charlene Wittstock, as they visit the eastern port city of Durban this week.
The five-star hotel is famous for sweeping views of the Indian Ocean and a presidential suite that lists for 50,000 rand ($7,400) a night.
The royal newlyweds, who are in town for a meeting of the International Olympic Committee will be throwing a party at the seaside hotel for 400 guests on Thursday.

Bono and and his wife Ali Hewson star in the newest of Louis Vuitton’s “core values” ads shot by Annie Leibovitz.
The couple, who were shot in South Africa, wear clothing by Edun, Hewson’s sustainable fashion line. in which LVMH took a 49 percent stake last year.
it’s the first time the U2 front man has appeared in an ad without his band, and the first time a label other than Vuitton is getting a fashion credit.

Fairmont hotels has opened its second property in South Africa, with just over a week to go before the World Cup tournament kicks off June 11.
The 154-room Fairmont Zimbali Resort is a short drive away from Durban, one of the main host cities of the tournament.
Offering ocean views from verandas and luxurious soaking tubs, the guestrooms have been styled with stone and the natural materials of the African environment.

Petra Diamonds has announced the recovery of a 507.55-carat rough white diamond from the famed Cullinan Mine in South Africa.
This spectacular gemstone was recovered on Thursday 24 September and is currently with experts for analysis.
Initial examinations indicate that the stone is of exceptional color and clarity, and is most likely a Type II diamond.
