Sir Elton John has launched his own range of crystal-encrusted iPods – to raise cash for AIDS orphans in Africa.

The “Starburst iPod” has been created by Laban Roomes of Goldgenie as he is known for producing gold-plated ones. Each iPod has colour co-ordinated Swarovski crystals embedded into it by advanced laser technology

Elton personally oversaw the design of the limited-edition music players – and had his signature lasered on the back of each one.

Good thing the new iPod Touch and 4th gen Nano come in 24ct and 18ct white gold now. The Nano starts at £349 ($640) while the second generation Touch starts at £449 ($820).

Although you can purchase a brand new gold iPod or iPhone, Goldstriker will also take an iPod or iPhone you’ve already purchased, encase the gadget in gold and get it back to you in 48 hours.

If you think you don’t get enough attention already by just sporting around with your iPod nano, then Goldgenie has a solution.

They are offering a limited edition 24-carat gold plated iPod nano with 8GB of capacity. It comes with black front face with laser engraved ‘Bizarre’ logo.

But, why the heck they named it Bizarre? It doesn’t look really bad from any angle. Well, what’s there is the name?
