Apple CEO Steve Jobs has unveiled the iPad, a large touch-screen device for reading, browsing the internet, listening to music and playing games.

The iPad is a super thin design that’s half an inch thin and features a 9.7 inch screen, 3G, 802.11 WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, 16-64GBs of storage, and an incredible 10 hours of battery life.

The display automatically switches from portrait to landscape as the device is turned.

It runs almost all existing apps and allows users to read and send email, look at photos, watch movies, listen to music, play games, browse the internet and read e-books.

Prices for the iPad will start at 499 dollars and the new device will start shipping worldwide in 60 days, the company said.

The iPad will be available in late March worldwide for a suggested retail price of 499 dollars for the 16GB model, 599 dollars for the 32GB model, 699 dollars for the 64GB model.

The Wi-Fi + 3G models of iPad will be available in April in the US and selected countries for a suggested retail price of 629 dollars for the 16GB model, 729 dollars for the 32GB model and 829 dollars for the 64GB model.
