The new Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong will be the tallest hotel in the world and there will be an infinity-edge pool on the top floor.
The current record for the highest hotel pool is the infinity pool on the edge of the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, an open-air pool perched 55 stories up.

BMW has teamed up with piano manufacturer Steinway & Sons to create the Individual 7-Series Composition.
Deliberately reminiscent of the piano keyboard, the colour schemes reflect the contrast between black and white.

Marriott International has purchased the historic Berners Hotel in London, which it plans to redevelop over the next two years into a boutique Edition brand hotel.
The London Edition marks the latest new property announcement for a brand which only opened the doors of its first property a few weeks ago in Hawaii.

A 18th-century Chinese vase discovered during a routine clear-out of a bungalow in northwest London has sold at auction for a record £53m (85 million dollars).
The 16-inch Qianlong porcelain vase is understood to have been bought by a private buyer from China in the sale Thursday at a small London auction house.

Allure of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship along with its twin Oasis of the Seas, made its US debut Thursday with operator Royal Caribbean showing off innovations including the first Starbucks coffee house at sea.
Allure soars 65 meters (213 feet) above the waterline, stretches 360 meters (1,181 feet) from bow to stern and fully loaded weighs 225,282 tons.
It was built by South Korea’s STX Finland Cruise shipyards in Finland at a cost of one billion dollars. The Allure made its US debut after a 13-day transatlantic journey from Turku, Finland, to Florida. Continue reading →

UK luxury brand Burberry will launch an online bespoke service for trench coats starting early next year.
The announcement was made on November 9 by company executives during the International Herald Tribune’s Luxury Conference in London.
Chief executive officer Angela Ahrendts said Web users would be able to select the colors and styles of the coats online, as well as add unique detailing like buttons and initials.

The world’s first Aston Martin Club Lounge has just opened its doors. The club is located at The Prime Society in Singapore’s Dempsey Hill neighborhood.
Created by Ingrid Prasatya, the lounge features custom-made tables crafted out of authentic Aston Martin wheel-rims as well as large-format prints of different car models.

Paris’ world-famous luxury Crillon hotel has been sold to Saudi investors linked to the royal family for around 250 million euros ($446 million).
US-based Starwood Capital is in the final stages of the sale which does not include a reportedly 100-million-euro programme needed to modernise one of the world’s oldest luxury hotels, according to the daily Le Figaro.
The Kempinski Hotels group is to manage the Crillon, the paper said, but the new acquisition would be its first in France.
The Crillon, built in the 18th century on what would become the Place de la Concorde, has 147 rooms and suites and employs around 360 people. Continue reading →

China’s ever increasing economic clout has again been reflected in a survey on consumer tastes in luxury goods which has shown the nation not only knows what goods it wants, it most certainly now has the means by which to buy them.
A report released this week by Bain & Company has claimed China is now the fastest-growing consumer of leather goods and jewelry worldwide.
Its overall luxury market has grown 23 per cent this year, meaning it’s on target to reap some 84.3 billion yuan (9.2 billion euro).
