Diddy Buys Son $360000 Maybach for 16th Birthday

Justin Dior Combs, the son of Sean P. Diddy Combs celebrated his 16th birthday over the weekend and got a brand new Maybach.

The party, which was filmed for the MTV reality show “My Super Sweet Sixteen,” featured performances by rappers Fabolous, Lil’ Kim, and Jim Jones.

The car is valued at $360,000. It comes with a driver for now because Justin is just learning to drive.

€260,500 paid for Bugatti in the lake

Bonhams has confirmed that a bidder paid €260,500 for the remains of a Bugatti that was pulled from the depths of Switzerland’s Lake Maggiore after 73 years.

The price for the 1925 Bugatti Type 22 was even more astonishing given that it had a reserve price of between €70,000 and €90,000.

The final high bidders were divided in their plans for the vehicle, with the European winner planning to display the car in its present condition.

Ads Bologna Motor Show Campaign

The invitation to go back to childhood and play with two or four wheels is the leitmotif of the 2009 Motor Show advertising campaign.

Playing with the commercial clichés of the automotive industry, the creativity, signed by Armando Testa, transforms the car and the model into toys.

A fashion doll leaning on a colorful tin toy car becomes the testimonial for the “special edition” of the Motor Show.

Givenchy to release two new scents

Eaudemoiselle and Dance with Givenchy will both become available this spring.

While both fragrances seem to be targeted at younger women, the advertising and packaging makes reference to the brand’s history.

Founder Hubert de Givenchy’s muse Audrey Hepburn was a ballet dancer, and Eaudemoiselle is meant to embody his aristocratic identity.

Bruce Weber Short Film for YSL Menswear

Star photographer Bruce Weber’s short film Ain’t Nothin’ Like The Real Thing kicked off Yves Saint Laurent‘s men’s wear show in Paris January 22.

Weber is perhaps best known for his ad campaigns and catalogues for Abercrombie & Fitch, which feature semi-nude hotties.

The black-and-white movie premiered on YouTube and Facebook simultaneously with the launch of the fashion show.

Perrier Jouët – Makiko Takehara

This year, to celebrate the release of the Cuvée Belle Epoque 2002, Perrier-Jouët embarked on a creative collaboration with Japanese art photographer Makiko Takehara.

She has interpreted 20 legendary Perrier-Jouët vintages, from the oldest in Champagne, the PJ 1825, to the first of the new millennium.

Makiko Takehara’s compositions provide a singularly artistic perspective of each vintage, turning champagne into a work of art.

Diane von Furstenberg launches home range

Fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg is planning on launching her own home collection next year.

Partnering up with home furnishings company Springs, the fashion brand will release bedding as well as table wear and bath accessories in January 2011.

The announcement marks the first freestanding home range for the designer and will be carried by international department stores as well as her website, dvf.com.

Chinese tourists splurge on French tax-free luxury

Chinese tourists to France increased their spending massively on tax-free luxury goods last year despite the economic crisis, overtaking cash-strapped Russians.

The Chinese bought tax-free goods worth 158 million euros (222.5 million dollars) in France in 2009.

That was an increase of 47 percent from the level the previous year, according to Global Refund, a company specialising in tax-free shopping for tourists.

Versace to launch cell phone

Italian fashion house Versace in May will introduce its first mobile phone, entering a blossoming new high-price category for luxury fashion brands.

Versace created the phone with ModeLabs, a French company that also makes phones for fashion house Christian Dior and watchmaker Tag Heuer.

True to Versace style, the bespoke phone will feature premium materials such as leather.

Armani x Reebok EA7 Footwear Collection

Italian design label Armani has teamed up with sports label Reebok for a new line of running shoes, introduced during the men’s fashion shows in Milan.

The new EA7 collection, which consists of sporty (The Runner) and more sophisticated styles (Mega Chic), comes after fellow Italian designer Salvatore Ferragamo launched sneakers with Yohji Yamamoto and Kanye West’s successful design stints for Louis Vuitton and Nike sneakers.

Combining fashion and fitness in shoes isn’t completely new then — however, Armani’s translation could be the most sports-focused yet.

Sakura Collection Veuve Clicquot Rosé

Champagne brand Veuve Clicquot, has teamed up with designers L’Atelier LZC to create the Sakura Collection. (Sakurea is Japanese for Cherry Blossom).

The Sakura Rosé Box is inspired by the ephemeral beauty of cherry blossom and the Japanese tradition for spring “Sakura” parties—which entail celebrating the short but majestic flowering of cherry trees by picnicking beneath them.

The portable Sakura Rosé Box contains a half-bottle of Cliquot Rosé and two beautiful plastic picnicking flutes.

Medicom Toy for BMW

To commemerate the opening of the new BMW Studio One space in Tokyo, Medicom Toy collaborated with the German automotive manufacturer to create a limited edition series of Bearbricks.

The toy, which carries the BMW logo on the front, is made with plastic ( 30% of the plastic used in the creation are recycled).

The 50% and 100% versions are limited to 3,000 pieces and 1,500 pieces respectively, whilst the 400% is produced in a limited run of 50 pieces only.

Aston Martin Creates Ski Line

Following in with the ski-line trend, Aston Martin has decided to launch a pair of skis which draws inspiration from their cars.

“Conceived as the ultimate all-rounder ski, the race-derived materials make them perfect for all downhill descents.

As with the latest Aston Martin sportscars, the high-technology construction boasts the latest materials including composites, aluminium and carbon.”

Mandarin Oriental Hotel – Barcelona

The Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola is responsible for the interior design of the recently opened Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Barcelona.

“The project reflects the open, cosmopolitan character of the great Mediterranean city where the hotel stands, along with the unmistakeable seal of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

The linear simplicity of the building, which was once the head offices of a bank, lends itself perfectly to the clean, balanced interior design by Urquiola.”
