Dutch yachtbuilder Oceanco recently unveiled its largest model to date, the 85.6-metre Y708, dubbed the most advanced superyacht the company has ever put into production.

The Igor Lobanov-designed Y708 Based on three guiding principles: motion, elegance, and privacy.

Dramatically sculpted surfaces convey motion, while the dynamic silhouette imparts elegance.

World’s tallest hotel to be built in Hong Kong

The world’s tallest hotel will open in Hong Kong in 2010 when the Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, welcomes its first guests.

The 312-bedroom hotel will occupy floors 102 to 118 on the International Commerce Centre (ICC) — currently taking shape on the Kowloon waterfront spanning 484 meters and 118 storeys when completed by the end of 2010.

That will make the new Ritz-Carlton the “world’s tallest hotel,” according to the company, although that claim is debatable.

Burberry to launch makeup line

Burberry, the British fashion label, has told Women’s Wear Daily that it will release a whole new range of beauty products next year.

After successful fragrance launches such as The Beat, it seemed like a natural move: “It gives another dimension to the brand,” Philippe Benacin, chairman and managing director of Burberry collaborator Inter Parfums SA told WWD.

The makeup launch, which is planned for July next year, will carry around 100 different color products for eyes, lips and skin that will retail at international upscale department stores.

Benacin’s statement confirms rumors about a potential Burberry beauty range that circulated as early as February. Further details are yet to be confirmed.

Maserati dominating posh car sales in US

Italian luxury sports car manufacturer Maserati is the overwhelming best-seller in the US among niche luxury car brands, according to business magazine Forbes.

Maserati is the top-selling brand among cars that sell at least 1,200 models a year in 47 of 50 states, plus the District of Columbia.

Three states prefer less flashy English automakers: Bentley is the favorite in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, while Virginia’s elite favor Aston Martin.

Escada sold to Megha Mittal

Megha Mittal will buy the luxury fashion house Escada for an undisclosed price, the company said on Thursday and keep CEO Bruno Saelzer onboard.

Escada, an international fashion group for women’s apparel and accessories has 182 own and 225 franchise shops in more than 60 countries.

Earlier, in August the iconic fashion house filed for insolvency after declining sales had a negative impact on the balance sheet of the company.

Sony has added another mobile to their Xperia range with the launch of the Sony Xperia Pureness, which is touted as a “Fashion Phone”.

“The company’s designers aimed to sculpt an object of design that reflected the purity of water and a sense of calmness when not in use.”

It sports a beautiful transparent screen and a hidden keypad which reveals itself when in use.

First space hotel to open by 2012‎

A private space tourism company, Galactic Suite Limited, has announced that they will be opening the first space hotel in 2012

The company is offering a three-night stay for 3 million euros ($4.4 million).

The zero-g resort will orbit the Earth at 30,000 mph, completely circling the planet once every 80 minutes, while offering visitors 15 sunrises per day.

Ferrari 599 China Edition Auctioned in Beijing

A one-off Ferrari on which we reported last month has been auctioned off for $1.77 million, including taxes.

The Ferrari 599 China was snapped up by an anonymous, silent auction participant based in Shanghai.

The one-off Fiorano was hand painted by Chinese artist Lu Hao with a pattern reminiscent of the sought-after Ge Liln porcelain of the Song Dynasty.

Roman Abramovich’s $52000 Lunch Bill‎

According to TMZ, Roman Abramovich dropped $47,221.09 on lunch at famed New York eatery Nello’s on Friday.

The tab came to $47,221.09. He added another $5,000 tip (on top of the $7,328 gratuity already included) for a total of $52,221.09.

The lunch menu comprised of filet mignon, white truffles and a bunch of expensive wines and it fed ten people at the table.

Baccarat artisans have created a fresh version of the iconic Louis XIII decanter, whose shape was inspired by an ancient metal flask that was found in the mid 19th Century on the site of a 16th Century battleground.

The phone is crafted from titanium and crystals with a top coat of stainless steel.
