Alfa Nero Superyacht for Sale at $190 Million

Alfa Nero, the 269-ft. Oceanco superyacht has been listed for sale via brokerage firm Edmiston & Co. for €129,750,000 (about $190 million).

Named after Roman emperor Nero, this superyacht was designed for the stylish and powerful Lords of the seas.

She was ranked #43 in Boat International’s list of the world’s 100 largest yachts in February 2009 and is Lloyds classed and MCA compliant.

Rare Chinese stamp sells for record $332,000

A single Chinese stamp has sold for $332,000 at Zurich Asia’s “Stamps and Postal History” autumn auction in Hong Kong Friday.

The 1897 Qing dynasty stamp was bought by a Beijing collector and set a new world record for a single Chinese stamp.

It is an extremely rare 1897 small one-dollar overprint on a three-cent Chinese Red Revenue stamp.

Billionaire dad criticised for super-yacht gift

One of Australia’s richest men, Clive Palmer, has drawn criticism for buying his teenage daughter a yacht worth AU$5.3m.

Child experts say that giving multi-million dollar gifts to teenagers is dangerous because it gives them unrealistic expectations about money.

Psychologist Renee Mill says that whilst it is commonplace for many wealthy parents to give expensive gifts like this, it amounts to irresponsible parenting.

Rarely seen Rembrandt to be auctioned

A Rembrandt masterpiece is expected to fetch up to £25 million ($41 million) when it goes under the hammer at Christie’s on December 8, 2009.

The painting could break the record price for a Rembrandt, which currently stands at £19,800,000 paid for Portrait Of A Lady Aged 62, in December 2003.

The painting, titled “Portrait of a man, half-length, with his arms akimbo,” was painted in 1658 and has been unseen in public for nearly 40 years.

Roman Abramovich buys $90M St. Bart’s property

Roman Abramovich, has spent $89million on a luxurious Caribbean estate in one of the most expensive private home sales of all time.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the property has Balinese bungalows with ocean views, tennis courts, swimming pools and music and dining pavilions.

“It’s very open bungalows, and it’s like you’re basically living on a beach,” the former owner says.

Porsche Design RFF135 Catamaran Superyacht

Porsche Design has unveiled its latest collaboration with yacht builder Royal Falcon Fleet, a 135 ft. catamaran.

The RFF135 is their first joint venture which has reached the first milestone of the construction.

The $58million craft features 472 square metres of interior space, accommodating 10 passengers and 10 crew members.

Hong Kong penthouses set record

Sun Hung Kai Properties, the world’s largest developer by market value, raised the price of two penthouses in Hong Kong by 50 percent to a record HK$75,000 ($9,700) a square foot as demand surges for luxury apartments.

The units, situated on the 91st to 93rd floor of the 270-meter (886-feet) towers, will be offered for $38.5 million each.

They each have 4,000 square feet (372 square meters) on three floors, six bedrooms, an outdoor garden and a swimming pool.

Louis Vuitton has announced plans to inaugurate a new World Series of sailing, beginning with a regatta in Nice in November.

The Louis Vuitton World Series has been created while the America’s Cup is locked in the protracted court battle between Oracle and Alinghi.

The event will be undertaken in association with a new professional sailing group called the World Sailing Team Association (WSTA).

Lamborghini Reventón Roadster film

Check out the brand new film for Lamborghini Reventón that the agency Philipp und Keuntje did for the IAA Frankfurt.

“The Reventón is the most extreme car in the history of the brand,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.

Only 20 units of the Lamborghini Reventon Roadster will be created, with each one costing just under $1.6m. It should go on sale in October.

Number of millionaires falls

The world’s wealthy are getting poorer and poorer at an alarming rate.

The number of millionaire households in the world dropped from 11 million in 2007 to 9 million last year, a fall of almost 18%, according to The Boston Consulting Group.

In North America the number was even higher, a 22 percent drop. Global wealth overall has also declined dramatically.
