Cristiano Ronaldo’s Legs Insured for $144 Million

Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo is the newest member of the “celebrity leg insurance” club.

Fearing the worst after the Portuguese picked up a knock recently, the Spanish giants have insured his legs for an estimated $144 million.

It was definitely a cause of worry for boss Florentino Perez when he heard that Ronaldo had already been fouled 34 times in three pre-season games.

Milan: a new Hotel for Armani

Set to open in Milan in 2011 is the Armani Hotel, situated in Via Manzoni, one of the most prestigious streets in Milan’s fashion district.

The designer’s name will become muse to ninety-five luxurious guest rooms, a gourmet restaurant and Armani Spa.

The hotel will occupy floors two to eight of the historic building, which was built by architect Enrico A Griffini in 1937.

World’s most expensive chocolate bar on sale

A gold-coated Cadbury’s Wispa chocolate bar could be the most expensive in the world – with a price tag of £961.48 ($1,630).

The special edition bar goes on sale as Cadbury relaunches the Wispa Gold after a massive Facebook campaign to bring it back.

The chocolate went back into production last month following a huge drive on the online networking site.

Rare vivid pink diamond could break sale record

A five-carat cushion-cut pink diamond known as “The Vivid Pink” is set to lead Christie’s Hong Kong sale this fall.

According to a media release, the Vivid Pink is the largest potentially flawless fancy-vivid-pink diamond ever offered for sale at auction.

Property of a private collector and set in a ring by renowned jeweler Laurence Graff, the diamond is expected to fetch between $5-$7 million.

Has Maltese Falcon been sold?

Tom Perkins, the American venture capitalist, is close to completing the sale of his clipper-style superyacht the Maltese Falcon.

The 289ft boat is believed to have fetched about £60m ($100m) after being on the market for more than a year.

The yacht, named after the Dashiell Hammett crime novel and its Humphrey Bogart film version, has three carbon-fibre masts carrying 15 sails.

William Grant & Sons Distillers unveiled a Glenfiddich 50-year aged version of the liquor that is priced at £10,000 ($16,000).

Intended for large pockets and refined palates, the Glenfiddich 50 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is a rare and precious “piece of art” that carries the brand’s heritage.

The bottles come wrapped in a Scottish hand-stitched, leather-bound case, in addition to the leather-bound book that contains the history of the whisky.

Lamborghini Sales and Profits Plunge

Lamborghini’s profits plunged in the first six months of 2009, but in contrast to many car manufacturers it is still making money.

Lamborghini reported a first-half profit of $7.6 million, down from $49.5 million in the same period last year. Turnover was $222, down 43.3 per cent.

The company, which has launched several new models in the past year, said worldwide vehicle sales dropped 37 percent, from 1,309 to 825 cars.

Star of India” Rolls Royce Up for Auction

This Rolls Royce, popularly known as the “Star of India” is a one-off 1934 Phantom II 40/50 HP Continental “All-Weather Convertible” that was custom made for the Maharaja of Rajkot.

The car was in the collection of Hans-Günther Zach, who had his own museum in Mühlheim, Germany and is now selling off the entire collection.

The “Star of India” alone is expected to fetch a sum of €10 Million ($14.1 million); if it does that would make it the most expensive car in the world.

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has been named the top luxury hotel in the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study.

The Four Seasons bumped The Ritz-Carlton hotel group which has held first place on the list for the past two years.

And Four Seasons customers don’t even mind paying more according to Michael Drago, director of the global hospitality and travel practice at J.D. Power.
