The Push Button House is exactly that: it starts as a shipping container until a button is pushed, and it turns into a house.

Most expensive iPhone shell

The Mardan Palace – Europe’s most expensive hotel

One of the most luxurious hotels on earth, The Mardan Palace, was unveiled last night at a spectacular opening party in Antalya, Turkey.

A glittering audience of 600 dined on top of the Mediterranean’s largest swimming pool, enjoying performances from Mariah Carey, Seal and Tom Jones.

As they feasted on 45kg Beluga Caviar from the Caspian Sea, 950 Atlantic lobsters and 5kg of Black diamonds – Italian black truffles – they watched a laser light show and fireworks light up the hotel and surrounding Taurus mountains.

French Season – Van Cleef and Arpels’ trunk

T.T. Trunks is presenting the new Van Cleef and Arpels’ trunk at the Arts and Crafts exhibition at Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi.

The exhibition, which ends today, is part of the ‘French Season’ organised by the French Embassy.

The trunk has been specially designed and crafted for the launch of the perfume “Féerie”.

Chopard and Festival de Cannes

Austrian director Michael Haneke won the Palme d’Or (Golden Palm) for best picture at the Cannes film festival on Sunday for “The White Ribbon,” his eerie exploration of the roots of Nazi terror.

Since 1954, the award has been annually given to the Director of the best film presented at the festival.

The Palme d’or 2009 has been created by Chopard and it reminds of the coat of arms of the city of Cannes.

Fendi have just released a bicycle named the Fendi Abici Amante Donna which comes in two versions.

One version comes decked out with Fendi’s Selleria leather accessories (a key and bike chain cover, leather gps navigation holder and a detachable Fendi case) which costs $5,900.

A more expensive version which comes complete with everything plus removable fur saddlebags for $9,500.

A German asset management company plans to set up 500 Gold-to-Go ATMs in Germany, Switzerland and Austria this year.

A gold-dispensing automatic teller machine (ATM) was on display at Frankfurt’s main railway station for a one-day marketing test this week.

A one-gram piece of gold, the size of a child’s little fingernail and about as thin, cost US$42.25-a 30% premium to the spot market price.

Drunk motorist ploughed his Rolls-Royce into Tesco

Shoppers at a Tesco superstore (Hampshire) had to dive for cover when a motorist drove a Rolls-Royce straight through the store window and demolished checkouts.

Minutes earlier the 50-year-old man had tried to buy alcohol at the supermarket but staff refused to serve him because they claimed he was already drunk.

He then stormed out of the shop and got into the luxury saloon, where store managers tried to reason with him.

Queen Elizabeth receives a gold-plated Wii

Buckingham Palace will be getting a special delivery today as THQ (a game developer) plans to deliver a golden Wii earmarked for the Queen.

The special Wii was created to mark the launch of Big Family Games, a collection of “24 unique twists on classic neighborhood games,” including golf, tennis, lawn darts and horseshoes, that comes out on May 22.

French Riviera luxury property prices crash

As we wrote about back in February, Russia’s richest man Mikhail Prokhorov had reportedly agreed to purchase the Villa for $750 million but later backed out of the deal, forfeiting a $55 million deposit.

The Telegraph says there have been panic sales by owners desperate for cash.

Riviera property sources said that one British owner settled for less than $60 million in January for a Cap Ferrat property whose original sale price was $200 million.

Softbank unveils the 830SC Emporio Armani Model

Softbank Mobile Corp. unveiled its new summer phone lineup Tuesday, including a solar model and a handset designed by Giorgio Armani.

This new handset, called the 830SC Emporio Armani Model, was specifically designed for the Japanese market.

The stylishly sleek cell phone has LED light embedded in its side spelling out the brand’s name for all to see in green, blue and red.

Tropical islands at recession-friendly prices

Dreaming of a tropical paradise to call your own? Several Australian islands off the Great Barrier Reef are on sale, and thanks to the global recession, they’re cheaper than they used to be.

Global real estate agency Coldwell Banker’s Capricorn Coast branch is offering 9 islands, some with luxury mansions and other amenities, around the Great Barrier Reef with prices starting at $1.3 million and up to $90 million.

One island on offer, Long Island, has seen its $6.5 million price tag slashed by 42 per cent. Others are being advertised for almost half what they cost about a year ago.
