Dubai Going Underground and Green

With news of the forthcoming opening of the Dubai Metro Red Line in September 2009, the bustling gulf metropolis is in the final phase of completing its transformation into one of the leading global cities of the modern era.

Connecting the central business district with both sides of the Dubai Creek, the new metro (with a further Green Line extension planned for 2010) will ease commuter traffic, and undoubtedly benefit property owners who are currently jammed on roads on their daily commutes.

In the long term, it is forecasted that potential Dubai investment will also have to reconsider their policies in view of this new “green factor”.

Last week, on one of these strolls, I noticed that one of boats of the Embankment pier – the only permanently moored yacht, no less – was being spruced up both inside and out.

At the entrance I encountered a charming gentleman by the name of Prince Sidi Mohammed Muzzafar Khan who recently purchased the yacht.

David and Victoria Beckham were planning to buy the famous Castle Sforzesco in Milan according to reports, but they have been told they can’t.

Victoria’s plans were to invest in the castle and make it the family home, but still keep the museum open in order to make a financial return.

However, it seems that they have failed to win this bid on the gorgeous 15th century castle that now houses artworks by Michelangelo and Da Vinci.
