Prada’s Shell Jewellery in special Edition

From March, 21 Prada will launch a new special edition of bijoux, called Shell Jewellery and available only in Milan’s stores.

Born from Miuccia Prada’s wish to mix various worlds for create a new one, the special line includes necklaces and earrings featuring metals and shells.

Unique shells of different forms and colors are mixed with crystals and make a particular craquelè effect.

BMW Profits fall by 90%

BMW released an unexpected preliminary earnings release showing that the Munich-based company made a €330m net profit, down 90% from 2007.

The car maker’s total production fell by 78% during 2008 producing 1.44m cars. The statement cited bad debts, one off costs and risk provision costs on used car markets.

Company chief executive Norbert Reithofer claimed that the economic downturn has given the company an opportunity to strengthen at an operating level.

Audi Delivers first RWD R8 LMS 500HP + to Customer

The first example of Audi’s track-only R8 LMS with chassis number ‘101’ has been delivered to first lucky owner in Italy.

Overall, twelve units of the 500hp+GT3 sports car will be delivered during the forthcoming weeks to six customer teams that plan to race in five European GT3 championships as well as in the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring for which Audi Sport has developed an endurance version of the R8 LMS.

Frank Lloyd Wright, the famous American architect, interior designer, writer and educator, who was recognized in 1991 by the American Institute of Architects as “the greatest American architect of all time” designed a ranch house in the southern edge of Los Banos (Merced County).

The house is the third-to-last California residence drawn by Frank Lloyd Wright, and one of only two currently on the market.

There is a large living room at the base looks onto the garden through a wall of windows and French doors and a row of bedrooms radiating outward on the north side, a kitchen and a play room on the south, and also a wonderful palm-shaded swimming pool.

The 2009 Forbes billionaires list

The American national business magazine, Forbes, compiled and published the list of billionaires including the world’s wealthiest people as of the first quarter 2009, based on each person’s total net worth.

Bad news for rich people: last year there were 1,125 billionaires, but this year there are just 793 people rich enough to make the list that means a 30% decline from a year ago.

The world’s richest are also a lot poorer. Their collective net worth is $2.4 trillion, down $2 trillion from a year ago. Their average net worth fell 23% to $3 billion.

“Billionaire Bust”, is the red title on the cover of this month’s Forbes special issue that demonstrated how hard the crisis had struck on the richest people on the planet.

This weekend, 12 of the world’s top wine and champagne experts flew from all corners of the globe to the boutique Champagne House Perrier-Jouet for the chance to taste 20 historic vintages from the House’s own cellars, including the oldest champagne in the world: Perrier-Jouet Vintage 1825.

Each sip would have been worth hundreds of Pounds/ Euros/ Dollars at auction, according to the Head of the International Wine Department at Sotheby’s, Serena Sutcliffe MW, who co-hosted the tasting with Perrier-Jouet Chef de Cave, Herve Deschamps.

ToysRUs pays $5m for toys domain

Toy retailer ToysRUs has paid $5.1m for the Toys.com domain name.

It is believed to be the biggest payout for a domain this year but has some way to go to beat the $14m paid for sex.com in 2007 or the $9.5m paid for porn.com.

“Toys.com is going to put them in the top search ranking and is likely to give them kudos in terms of brand recognition,” said Sedo’s business development manager Nora Nanayakkara.

Hilton Hotels launches luxury Denizen brand

Hilton Hotels Corp. is developing a new luxury lifestyle hotel chain, Denizen Hotels, that will target business travelers as well vacationers.

This new brand, unveiled this morning, means “citizen of the world” and will appear in international cities catering to globally-conscious modern travelers in the coming years.

The long-awaited announcement comes as luxury hotels and resorts have fallen out of favor during the deepening recession, as businesses look to cut back on extras and corporate travel planners shy away from frivolous spending.
