A planned luxury train to Tibet has been postponed for the second time in a year, the operator said Monday, adding the global slowdown – not simmering tension in the Himalayan region – was to blame.
Tangula Luxury Trains, which was expected to launch high-class tours from Beijing to Lhasa in April this year, said it would delay the start of package holidays on the world’s highest railway until spring 2010.
“The rescheduling of our official launch was a very recent decision and was taken by our management in light of the current global economic climate,” a Beijing-based spokeswoman told AFP.

Crystal Lagoons has announced the construction of twelve giant crystal clear lagoons at the Sharm El Sheik beach, in the Egyptian desert, the biggest of them measuring 8.8 hectares in size. The world’s largest pool is currently in San Alfonso del Mar, Chile, and has an area of 8 hectares.

John Dolmayan, drummer for System of a Down and owner of Torpedo Comics, is now the owner of the first edition of Action Comics, from June of 1938 which is famous for having in its pages the debut of the “Man of Steelâ€.
This sets a record price for a comic book, but far from the $500,000 that Comic Connect estimated it to be worth.

Swedish designers Erik Nyberg and Gustav Ström created the WAVE Hammock for Belgian outdoor furniture manufacturer Royal Botania.

North Korea has opened its first “authentic” Italian restaurant on the orders of its leader, Kim Jong-Il, a pro-Pyongyang newspaper said Saturday.
The Chosun Sinbo, often seen as a mouthpiece for North Korea’s communist regime, said the restaurant had proved to be a major hit after it opened in the capital Pyongyang in December.
“I’ve learned through TV and books that pizza and spaghetti are among the world’s famous dishes, but this is the first time that I’ve tasted it,” Jung Un-Suk, 42, told the newspaper, which is published in Japan. Continue reading →

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner is selling the Holmby Hills house near to the Playboy Mansion for $27,995,000.
The 7,318 square feet (700 square meters) English manor-style personal residence has been home to his estranged wife Kimberly and their two teenage sons since the late 1990s.
Hefner bought the mansion for a reported $6.7 million.

An entire village, complete with a cricket club, a blacksmiths and a manor house is to go on sale next week for up to £25 million.
Whoever buys Linkenholt, near Andover in Hampshire, will land its 22 houses, the village shop, a commercial shoot, 1,500 acres of prime farm land and 450 acres of woodland.
The village is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is to be sold by the Herbert and Peter Blagrave Charitable Trust.
