Pershing Won Best Luxury Performance Yacht 2009 Award

The immense popularity of the Pershing brand on the Chinese market has been reconfirmed for 2009, too.

An awards ceremony was held recently in the elegant setting of the Hotel Pudong Shangri-La in Shanghai, during which Pershing, a Ferretti S.p.A. brand and famous Italian shipyard specialising in the production of luxury yachts, was presented with the important “Best Luxury Performance Yacht 2009” award, following data issued by the “Best of the Best” survey.

The “Best of the Best” is the most authoritative survey which the Editorial Office of “The Hurun Report”, an important Chinese magazine devoted to the financial world and luxury, has drawn up every year for the past five in order to make an in-depth investigation of the lifestyles and spending habits of the most prominent figures in the Chinese economy.

Rivale Palm Beach

Iconic Italian motoryacht maker Riva will debut its new 52′ Rivale Palm Beach at the Miami Yacht Show this weekend.

The boat’s deck and hull are finished in a new color, desert sand, with Roman bronze detailing on the dashboard and signal mast evoking the image of a shark’s flipper.

Inside the cabins, the walls and furniture are made of luminous elm, embellished with topstitched natural-grain leather, for a soft, dark contrast to the Roman bronze lacquering.

A New World’s Most Expensive Pen

The Aurora Diamante is the most expensive writing instrument till date. The pen features over 30 carats of  De Beers diamonds, and is available in solid platinum or white gold versions.

It has a two-tone, rhodium-treated, 18KT solid gold nib and is personalized with a coat of arms, signature or portrait.

Aurora Pens says it is the only over 30 carat pen in the world. Apparently, only a single piece will be available for sale per year for around one million euros ($1.3 million).

Snow castle opens in Finland

The snow castle, in the northern town of Kemi, Finland, has a hotel, a restaurant and a chapel which are all located inside its thick snow walls.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people visit the attraction and some are even keen to stay in the 48 rooms where temperatures are only -5C regardless of the outdoor temperature, which is normally between -15 and -20C.

But while newlyweds get to snuggle up in the honeymoon ice suite, they have to use sleeping bags suitable for Arctic conditions and don ski hats, socks and thermal undies.

Lady Ann Magee Yacht For Sale

The Herald reports that packing magnate Michael Smurfit is selling his luxury yacht for €16.5m after buying it eight years ago for more than €40m.

Fifty metres in length and containing six luxury cabins, the Lady Ann Magee is capable of accommodating 12 guests.

A jacuzzi, a swimming pool and an en-suite sauna are among the features of the 12-crew boat.
