Rolls Royce sold 1212 cars in 2008

Rolls Royce Motor Cars has seen its 2008 sales increase by 20 per cent. Last year the luxury car manufacturer retailed 1212 cars compared to 1010 the previous year.

This marks the fifth consecutive annual sales increase since the company was launched in 2003.

Continued interest in the Phantom Drophead Coupé and, in particular, the introduction of the Phantom Coupé in the summer of 2008 saw Rolls-Royce attract new buyers, boosting retails to record levels.

Jaguar XFR

Finally, the Jaguar XFR is here! The new vehicle from the British manufacturer has been designed especially to compete with cars such as Audi RS6, Bmw M5 or the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

Under the hood the vehicle comes with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine capable to deliver an impressive 510 hp and 625 Nm or 460 lb.ft of torque.

With this amount of power the vehicle hits 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds ( 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds ), while the top speed is limited to 155 mph or 250 km/h.

Château Latour for sale?

The future of the Château Latour vineyard was in question after it emerged that the investment bank Lazard is discreetly offering the label for sale to French competitors.

Owned by the president of the luxury-goods group PPR, François Pinault, Château Latour is regarded as one of the finest wines from the Medoc region.

The Château Latour estate consists of 78 hectares of Bordeaux vineyards but only grapes from the 47 hectares that surround the chateau at the heart of the estate are used to make the Grand Vin de Château Latour.

Cristiano Ronaldo Crashes His Ferrari Into Tunnel Wall

Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Manchester United, crashed his Ferrari on his way to work on Thursday morning.

The incident happened at 10.20am close to his luxury home in Cheshire as he was driving his $380,000 Ferrari 599 GTB through a tunnel, under Manchester Airport.

Impact was so great that the front of the supercar was completely demolished, the windscreen shattered, the left wing mirror torn off and the rear tyre completely flat. The impact caused the car to lose a front wheel and it then ricocheted off the wall before coming to a stop.

Sofia Coppola’s Miss Dior Cherie Commercial

The brilliant Sofia Coppola has directed a dreamy and infectiously happy new commercial for Christian Dior’s Miss Dior Chérie fragrance.

It features model Maryna Linchuk eating a pastry, riding a bike, spraying on the perfume and kissing a guy. Then she gets lifted up into the sky by a bunch of balloons. And all to the tune of “Moi Je Joue” by Brigitte Bardot.

Burberry has ditched the gloomy, melancholy theme of their recent fall ad campaign and went with a sunny, bright greenhouse full of greenery and plants for the official Spring 2009 ads.

The campaign was shot by Mario Testino at Petersham Nurseries, a posh garden center outside London.

“I wanted the mood to be gentle, relaxed, romantic and about a quiet, beautiful sense of luxury,” explained Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey. “This campaign highlights the spirit of our wonderfully crumpled classics.” Via wwd

Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel

Marriott is to open its third Renaissance-branded hotel in Paris : it will be located on Avenue Wagram approximately 300 meters north of the Arc de Triomphe.

The Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel is almost finished construction, and has announced that they will be opening in March, 2009.

The seven floor, 188 room hotel, designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc, is characterized by undulating horizontal glazed bands, which accommodate the rooms’ bow windows to maximize views of the area.

Each room of the hotel is a detached small independent house with one, or sometimes two of the walls constructed in glass. The landscape in which these rooms are placed is by most people considered spectacularly beautiful and varied and the topography allows a layout where no room looks at another.

In this way every room gets its own surprising view of a dramatic piece of landscape, always changing with the weather and the time of the day and the season.

Most Expensive Rubik’s Cube

The most expensive Rubik’s Cube was the Masterpiece Cube, produced by Diamond Cutters International in 1995 for the 15th anniversary of the Rubik’s Cube and made with 185 carats of precious gems.

The actual-size, fully functional cube features 22.5 karats of amethyst, 34 karats of rubies, and 34 karats of emeralds, all set in 18-karat gold.

The world’s most expensive Rubik’s Cube is estimated to be worth $1.5 million.
