In 1996 Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei commissioned a secret project called ‘The Platinum Yacht’ but ran into financial difficulty and the project was put on hold.
The project was taken over in 2001 by the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum and the yacht was renamed the ‘Golden Star’. It is now in dry dock awaiting completion, but when it is finally completed the Golden Star will not only be the world’s most expensive yacht at a cost of over $300 million USD, but also the longest at 525 feet.

Tall as 48 foot, this powerboat is power-driven by two diesel engines, 2,000 horsepower besides maintaining a top speed of 158 km/h (85 knots).
The hull is developed using kevlar and carbon fiber with cross linked PVC cores linked using vinylester and epoxy resins.

This 141-foot motoryacht was built in 2001 by Warren Yachts of New South Wales, Australia and designed by Ed Dubois. It has room for ten guests in five cabins including the full width owner’s suite which is located forward on the main deck and includes a study, lounge, dressing room and his and hers baths.
There are four additional guest suites with en suite shower rooms. The yacht also has a jacuzzi dip pool, gymnasium and barbecue. It comes with toys including two tenders, waverunners, waterskis and snorkeling gear.
