Dunhill‘s creativity in designing fountain pens for the unusual use describes their limited-edition collection for a long time.

Now, they have surpassed themselves with the Sentryman Explorer pen, that was inspired by the needs of South Pole explorers.

This pen’s most notable feature is the pressurized refill where its ink is stored, which allows the pen to write in really cold temperatures (up to 4 below zero).

It also features a luminous cap and an artificial flint into the barrel which creates a spark when struck against the magnesium cap button allowing one to light a fire.

Unusually, the fountain pen forepart is interchangeable with a ballpoint forepart (included) – much better for writing a journal while on an expedition!

The carrier is lined with “Technogel” which will protect it, should it be dropped into an icy crevice, says the manufacturer.
