WOW Autumn 2016: Technically Speaking

WOW brings us an exciting new issue for fall that looks at the technical side of watchmaking.

With the new fall issue of WOW available on newsstands now, watch aficionados are in for a treat. The experts behind the magazine are revisiting the technical side of watchmaking. With the Bulgari Octo Ultanero Finissimo Skeleton greeting readers on the cover, the issue promises to be an interesting read.

The focus of the magazine this quarter happens to be three technical reads. The first is one that takes a closer look at watchmakers paying more attention to movement design to achieve performance improvements. The second explores the mechanics and the reasons why certain complications are around today even though they seem like anachronisms. The final feature looks at the improvements that have been made recently in escapement technology as well as what that means for chronometry and power management.

Though the issue focuses on the technical details, it does provide us with an exclusive photospread that highlights Patek Philippe’s minute repeaters. WOW also brings us interviews with the CEOs of Corum, Glashütte Original and Seiko. Managing Editor of WOW, Celine Yap, says, “Talk of complications and other such technical matters may intimidate, but at WOW we strive to make such knowledge accessible to our readers, regardless of their familiarity with the subject at hand. There’s no need to shy away from or gloss over these topics – we present them as they are. This remains our unique proposition, and explains WOW’s enduring popularity.”
