Lonely Planet eBooks

E-book subscription service Scribd has partnered with Lonely Planet to make all the publisher’s travel guides available to subscribers.

The partnership, which will make hundreds of Lonely Planet’s guidebooks available to Scribd users, launches Scribd’s new travel category.

Trip Adler, co-founder and CEO of Scribd, said travel was “the perfect category for e-books” as they lightened “a traveller’s load while on the go”.

Traditional travel guidebooks are predicted to become obsolete thanks to the web, mobile apps and geo-locating services that can lead users to the nearest museum in real time.
