Restaurant manager Jason Hargett of the Ruby River Steakhouse in Provo, Utah had a life changing day on the golf course on Tuesday.

He was in attendance at the Mark Eaton Classic charity golf event benefiting the Utah Diabetes Center at Red Ledges in Heber City.

He made a last minute decision to participate and soon discovered they were holding a contest: Get a hole-in-one, win $1 million.

And with organisers estimating the odds of anyone doing it at one in 45,000, Jason thought he had no chance.

But to everyone’s amazement the lucky dad-of-two hit a wonder shot using a nine-iron to walk away with the prize.

Jason said he didn’t feel any pressure when he made the shot because no-one expected him to get it in.

He added: “You go up, and it’s not something you expect to make. It feels good to be a millionaire!”

It will take the couple 40 years to reap the entire fortune, which will be paid at a rate of $25,000 a year.
