BlockJakarta is back and as the seventh edition of the Blackarrow Blockchain Series, it will be held at the Ritz Carlton Pacific Place, Jakarta Indonesia on 9th May 2018. The objective of the conference is to explore the opportunities in the sphere and to identify challenges in the adoption of blockchain technology with Indonesia as an emerging focal point in South East Asia.

Oscar Darmawan, CEO of INDODAX is among the confirmed speaker for BlockJakarta. INDODAX, previously Bitcoin Indonesia, is the country’s major cryptocurrency exchange. It controls more than 70% of bitcoin transactions in Indonesia and Oscar has observed what he calls “exponential growth” in users of his marketplace platform from 50,000 users in 2015 to more than 500,000 registered accounts last year. Oscar is adamant that they have yet to “penetrate even 1% of the total population in Indonesia” and that that the “opportunity to corner the market is huge.”

Other confirmed speakers include Riki Arif Gunawan, the Head of Sub Directorate Technology and Directorate Information Security from Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications and Information; and I Nyoman Sastrawan, Group Head of Research with The Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (INTRAC) and President of Pundi X, Constantin Papadimitriou.
