Last years’ Blockbali conference was sold out with over 300 participants, consisting of a mix of 33 nationalities from over two dozen countries. With this second edition of BlockBali, the organisers are expecting an even larger turnout with a target of over 500 participants from all over the world. 

The event will aim to connect the global blockchain gurus and technology players with Indonesian business leaders. It will discuss the opportunities in blockchain and cryptocurrencies in Indonesia, as well as lay the foundation for Indonesia becoming ASEANs biggest blockchain market.

The Indonesian blockchain scene has seen immense growth over the past year.

Indonesia’s senior government agency has recently signed a decree approving crypto as a commodity for trading. The decision has injected a dash of optimism into the downswing market, with many local blockchain and crypto enthusiasts taking it as a sign that crypto, and the blockchain technology that supports it, would have a fighting chance to be mainstream in Indonesia in the future.

Confirmed luminaries who will be speaking at the event include Alvin Taulu, Head of Licensing Sub-Division, Directorate of Regulating, Licensing & Supervision of Fintech with the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK). Government officials present will shed light on their outlook on blockchain and cryptocurrency. Other notable speakers include Oscar Darmawan, CEO of Indodax, Indonesia’s largest digital exchange and Steven Suhadi, the chairman of the Indonesian Blockchain Association.
