
British fashion house Alexander McQueen is teaming up with prestigious tailor Huntsman to launch a menswear made-to-measure service.
Launching in June at the McQueen store on London’s Bond Street, pieces will take around 12 weeks to make and prices begin at £4,500 (€5,400).
Customers can choose from a single-breasted dinner jacket, a black cashmere double-breasted overcoat and a black-and-white Prince of Wales check suit.

US menswear manufacturers have noted an increase in male tailored clothing, with slimline suits set to dominate 2012.
A report published December 8 on WWD saw major American menswear retailers highlight an increasing trend towards flattering attire for gentlemen.
American market research company The NPD Group says tailored clothing sales rose more than 11 percent and sales of men’s tailored shirts rose more than 3 percent in the first half of 2011.


French luxury products giant PPR said on Tuesday it was acquiring Italian high-end menswear brand Brioni, in line with the restructuring of its business.
PPR has “signed an accord with Brioni shareholders to acquire 100 percent of the capital,” it said in a statement, without giving a figure for the deal.
PPR head Francois-Henri Pinault said this acquisition “completes our portfolio of luxury brands … in the mens’ ready-to-wear segment,” which is growing fast.


Whereas once they were the uniform of London’s elite movers and shakers, the legendary Savile Row cut of suit has slowly been making inroads into China.
And a collection of the British capital’s finest bespoke tailors now has big plans to extend its reach across the nation.
Gieves & Hawkes — founded in 1771 and the oldest and largest bespoke tailor on Savile Row — has just announced plans to open 10 new stores across mainland China this year alone, to go with the 90 already established in the country.

Astor & Black have teamed up with Bentley’s North American subsidiary to provide a custom-tailored new suit to every client that orders a new Bentley.
“Bentley is synonymous with luxury,” said David Schottenstein, Astor & Black CEO. “We plan to hand select the fabric for these suits”
“The new Bentley owners will also receive a hand-made silk tie and shirt. We are very proud to be an integral part of this promotion.”
The deal was first announced on orders for the new Mulsanne, but is now being expanded to the entire model range.

Dolce & Gabbana will design the formal club suits for Chelsea Football team after signing a new three-year partnership, according to Vogue UK.
Using the club’s signature blue, the designer duo have created two outfits for the players – the first comprises a three piece suit with an embroidered logo crest.
The second comprises a pair of jeans worn with a shirt and black trainers. Both looks will be finished off with a black wool fitted coat.
