ExecuJet South Africa and Bombardier Business Aircraft were joint hosts at the recent 2nd biennial Jets & Jewels celebration at Lanseria International Airport.

ExecuJet’s private jet hangar was transformed into an elegant function venue, where 450 guests and celebrities enjoyed a show of the latest fashion lines from Hugo Boss, Armani and Lacoste.

Specialist banking group, Investec, was another key sponsor. Two Learjet 45s and a Global Express were showcased, alongside two gleaming Maseratis.

One must tee off from the top of a mountain over a lush forest and onto the green which is located 400 meters below.

The Extreme 19th costs 3,500 rand (about $385) to play–but it comes with the promise, however remote, of a $1-million prize for a hole-in-one.

Two new performance machines were just announced in South Africa in the past weeks.

Earlier we saw the covers come off the oddly-named Barnard supercar, an ominous, all-black Le Mans style racer with the heart of a Porsche. Today we have the first details about the Perana Z-One.

Zagato, a design and engineering services company located just outside of Milan, has teamed up with South Africa’s Perana Performance Group to build this sweet looking car which will be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show next month.

Chris Barnard, a designer with a deeply rooted passion for endurance racing, from Bloemfontein in South Africa, has revealed few details of his new super-car, simply called the Barnard.

Powered by a twin-turbo Porsche V8 engine with a power rating of 617bhp (460kW), Barnard should run from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds, with a theoretical top speed of over 240mph (386km/h).

The car is built on a monocoque chassis made from Domex and Docoal high-tech steels which are light and very strong and it has been designed to accommodate numerous buyers’ desires, in fact it can be personalized to a great extent.

World’s Most Expensive Female Artist

world most expensive female artist Worlds Most Expensive Female ArtistSouth African born artist Marlene Dumas set a new record this month for the most expensive living female artist, when her painting The Visitor, fetched £3.1 million ($6.2million) at a Sotheby’s auction.

Dumas’s painting was sold at the Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening Sale held in London on the 1st of July.

The £3,177,250 million bid for the painting surpasses Dumas’ previous record of £1.8 million set in February 2005.
