China’s mainland has over 875,000 multimillionaires

The Hurun Research Institute published the 2010 Hurun Wealth Report today for the second consecutive year.

The report analyses the number and distribution of China’s wealthy across the nation’s major cities and provinces.

The report shows that there are 875,000 people with more than RMB 10million (EUR 1.1M / USD 1.47M) in China today, an increase of 6.1% from last year.

This growth has occurred against a background of strong economic performance in China‘s economy.

GDP grew by 8.7% in 2009 to RMB 33.5trillion, and the Shanghai Composite Index rose over the same period from 2300 points to 3000, an increase of 30%.

The film was shot in Shanghai, according to Prada the film was inspired by the Chinese adage that “the whole year’s work depends on a good start in spring”.

Chanel’s Shanghai fashion show

After last year’s Moscow extravaganza, Chanel’s head designer Karl Lagerfeld relocated to Shanghai last week to present his yearly Maison d’Arts collection at the label’s freshly inaugurated boutique at the Peninsula Hotel.

David Lynch for Dior?

Dior has confirmed that filmmaker David Lynch will follow in Oliver Dahan’s footsteps, directing the label’s next Lady Dior ad.

The second ‘episode’ of the campaign, which started with Dahan’s secret agent-inspired chapter earlier this year, was shot in Shanghai this week.

Lynch, the maker of US TV series Twin Peaks and movies such as Mulholland Drive previously directed the ad for Gucci’s signature fragrance.

How super rich live in China

A new report has revealed that Beijing has the maximum number of rich people in China.

The latest Hurun Report on China’s wealthiest people said that there are 143,000 (yuan-)multimillionaires and 8,800 billionaires in Beijing.

In Shanghai, there are 116,000 multimillionaires and 7,000 billionaires, reports the China Daily.
