As we reported two weeks ago, the highly anticipated KEE Shanghai – the first overseas branch of the famous Hong Kong private members club that counts celebrities and royalty among its habituees – has now opened its doors to Shanghai society.
Elegantly located behind the grand stone entrance and cast iron gates of 796 Huai Hai Rd, past a beautifully cultivated garden, KEE Shanghai discreetly resides in the striking 1920s heritage maison Twin Villas.
A location it shares with the Richemont Shanghai headquarters, sitting above the flagship stores for China of distinguished brands such as Alfred Dunhill and Vacheron Constantin.

The Super Sense Spa, designed by architecture and design studio KUU, a 3-level spa in Shanghai completed in late 2007.
An additional floor in steel was added and the staircase leading up lands at several platforms which are for the spa’s complementary purposes such as consultation, beauty treatment, manicure or pedicure.
I am amazed at the way the designer play with the form and function of the wall that creates lighting, niches and even form spaces. Absolutely uplifting and delightful !

One of my favourite place in Hong Kong, KEE Club, is a members only club which has been around circa 2001 and it’s still going strong. When Kee first opened, Paparazzi would be permanently stationed outside of it’s Kee’s doors as VIP celebs, starlets and hong kong socialites would always be there.
Today many people consider Kee to be their favorite club because it has the atmosphere of a private house party. The crowd is eclectic and glamourous.
There are celebrities, old money, new money, young trendies, older sophisticates, models, fashion people, Eurotrash, guys in suits, glam gals. It’s the only member’s only club that really feels like a “club”. It’s easy to socialize without pretensions.

Shanghai is now the proud host of the highest hotel in the world !
Park Hyatt Shanghai is a sophisticated modern Chinese residence occupying the 79th to 93rd floors of the Shanghai World Financial Center (SWFC), otherwise known as “The Vertical Complex City”.
Situated in the heart of the Lujiazui business district in Pudong, the 492-metre SWFC, with its 101-storeys, will be one of the tallest buildings in the world, making Park Hyatt Shanghai the highest hotel in the world.
It is due to open in Autumn 2008. If you ever visit the hotel, make sure to stop by Cloud 9, a stunning bar located on the 87th floor that provides loungers with spectacular views of the skyline.
