
Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld will be global guest editor for Metro International newspapers this February.
He will spend one day working in the paper’s Paris newsroom for the Feb. 7 issue, with coverage to run in 22 countries across Europe, America and Asia.
Entitled “The World According to Karl,” the edition will feature illustrations and commentaries from the creator and will launch the paper’s coverage of the New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks.

French designer Jean Paul Gaultier covered the Tuesday edition of French newspaper Libération in old editions of the daily.
He also enlisted the staff to participate in the shoot, dressing everyone from reporters to web developers to a receptionist in newsprint creations.
The campaign, shot by Patrick Swirc features paper renditions of Gaultier’s including a trench coat, a men’s skirt and a bustier with a conical bra.


Libération – the iconic left wing French newspaper – has invited Karl Lagerfeld to be editor-in-chief for the day.
The entire issue bears his mark, from illustrations to comments, to special interviews of him, and an opinion page about the designer.
His illustrations include a self-portrait for the cover of today’s edition, which is 14 by 22 inches — twice as large as it usually is.

For two days Elena Gregusova’s “Wear the News” collection will be exhibited at the Financial Times “Business of Luxury Summit” in the famous Salle des Etoiles in the Sporting Monte-Carlo.
The outstanding collection of six haute couture sculptures created exclusively from Financial Times newspaper represent Elena’s artistic transformation of recycled newspaper into extraordinary luxury wearable paper sculptures.

To protest the hyperinflation that has rendered the Zimbabwe currency worthless and to raise awareness of the dire economic situation there, the Zimbabwean Newspaper created an ad campaign featuring huge posters, wall murals, flyers, and even billboards all made out of trillions of Zimbabwean dollars.


The Worlds Record Academy included among its recorda the newspaper copy “Zimbrulu and Vulturulu” (which means “the Aurochs and the Eagle”) as the most expensive newspaper in the world.
The daily is currently showcased at the EFIRO 2008 World Philatelic Exhibition in Bucharest (the first edition happened in 1932).
The 1858 copy of the Zimbrulu si Vulturulu newspaper copy was printed in Iasi, eastern Romania, was accidentally stamped with eight Auroch heads.
The newspaper’s destination was Galati (south eastern Romania) where it was bought by a stamp collecting bookshop owner. Afterwards, the owners’ traces vanished until 1969. The priceless paper found its way into the hands of the David Feldman auction house. From there it was auctioned in 2006 to art collector Joseph Hackmey for €829,500 ($1.3 million).
Today, the Romanian stamps are among the highest acclaimed in the world, with Romania ranking seventh in the classification of the most beautiful stamps in the world.
