Louis Vuitton is celebrating two premieres: its first luxury concept store in the region, and its first ‘Island Maison,’ a multi-storey shopping location on a private island.

Located in Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, the Maison built by star architect Peter Marino sells women’s and men’s collections, Louis Vuitton’s jewelry as well as design and art books. It is the 12th Maison in the world for the label.

Christian Louboutin has been selling 25 pairs, costing hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars, in his first-ever men’s store in Paris that opened in August.

Apparently, the more lavish models are most popular, with Louboutin saying that his male customers “come in and they say, ‘What do you have with studs?'”

And that his studded high-top sneakers ($993) and a more elaborate version with crystals ($2,278) belong to his bestsellers.

Italian brand Roberto Cavalli has announced that it will open its first Japan flagship store in September, with the designer behind the label to visit Tokyo to mark the opening of the boutique in early November.

The store is located in the city’s upmarket Aoyama district and will also be the first directly owned and managed Roberto Cavalli boutique in Asia.

The shopping landscape in Hong Kong is about to be expanded once again with news that luxury brand Burberry plans to open its Asian flagship store in the city.

Burberry will take up residence over two floors and 21,000 square (1950 sq m) feet of space and that the new store will open in the second half of 2012.

It will be the British retail giant’s largest store in the region and the second largest in the world, behind its 57th Street, New York outlet which spans 24,000 square feet.

Passengers passing through Rome Fiumicino can now stop off at a new Ducati store in Terminal 3, the first outpost of a new partnership between the motorcycle maker and airport retailer Meridian Duty Free which opened July 4.

With the first branch open, Ducati is pushing to extend its stores to more European and non-European airports, giving travelers around the world an opportunity to pick up branded merchandise on their journey.

The 460-square-meter flagship store — to be opened “before January” next year — will be supplemented by a salon inside the lobby of the Peninsula Shanghai hotel.

Roberto Cavalli Fall-Winter 2011-2012

Roberto Cavalli said it will open 85 new stores in China within the next five years under a deal signed on Tuesday with Shanghai-based retail giant UCCAL Group.

The company will open its first stores under the new deal in Beijing and Shanghai between late 2011 and early 2012, it said in a statement.

The venture will be called Roberto Cavalli China and will be owned 75 percent by the Roberto Cavalli Group and 25 percent by UCCAL.

Shilla Duty Free has struck a landmark agreement to open the world’s first Louis Vuitton airport store, at Incheon International Airport.

The luxury brand has traditionally rejected the airport retailing channel – though it is present in downtown travel retail through selected Gallerias run by fellow LVMH subsidiary DFS, and through high-class Korean retailers such as Shilla and Lotte.

Shilla said: “Louis Vuitton’s opening of a store in Incheon International Airport is being considered as a monumental achievement in the global tourism industry.
