Givenchy’s new ‘it bag,’ the Shark, to hit stores in June

 has delved into the murky and fascinating depths of the oceans for the inspiration for its latest ‘It bag’, “The Shark”

Givenchy is already famous for counting one major ‘it bag’ among its offer, the Antigona satchel, loved by stars including Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Rihanna and Miranda Kerr. And the brand’s new Shark bag looks set to be seen on the arms of even more members of the A-list.

Structured and supple, the Shark features a subtly asymmetric form comprising clean, sharp lines.

Its intense black leather body keeps things both modern and classic, while an oversized graphic flap adds depth. The shark-tooth-inspired metal clasp detail injects a dash of elegant danger into the piece.

A removable shoulder strap keeps the design practical and means the bag can be worn over the shoulder, tucked under the elbow or carried in the hand.

The luxury fashion house has adopted the shark tooth form as something of a motif, with the accessory appearing on everything from the label’s boots to jewelry. The animal first made an appearance in its collections in Spring/Summer 2012, courtesy of Riccardo Tisci: the surfer’s talisman was worn as an oversize necklace or transformed into sandal clasps.

Since then, each passing season has seen the house integrate the shark tooth into its collections, whether as pendants, as a clasp on summer sandals or a leather gaiter boot, as cufflinks, earrings, or a surfer’s key-ring, a nylon cord to tie around your neck, pairing the graphic lines of the clasp with the rawer contours of the shark’s tooth.

The Shark, which is available in three sizes, was first unveiled as part of Givenchy’s pre-fall collection. It comes in a variety of colors and finishes including cream and black monochrome, brown studded leather and a dusky beige hue. It is set to hit stores this June.

Supermodel Alice Dellal, American actress Kristen Stewart and French actress Vanessa Paradis have returned to inspire Karl Lagerfeld’s latest campaign for the luxury brand’s handbags.

“Three women, three handbags” is how Chanel presents its latest campaign. In the first visuals revealed, the famous brand ambassadors pose separately, each with one of the label’s bags.

Among Chanel’s signature spokesmodels, French actress Vanessa Paradis first posed for the label in 1991 as the face of the Coco fragrance.

Nearly a quarter of a century later, the partnership is still going strong.

For Karl Lagerfeld, Vanessa Paradis poses naked, wearing only a pearl necklace and the new Girl Chanel handbag in lambskin leather with a leather braid.

2) Alice Dellal for the Boy

The British supermodel has always been the face of the Boy bag, which is particularly suited to her androgynous style.

In this latest campaign, she stays true to this style, wearing only a loose-fitting leather shirt and a denim patchwork version of the Boy handbag.

3) Kristen Stewart for the 11.12

Finally, Kristen Stewart is the face of one of the French label’s enduring classics, the quilted 11.12 handbag.

In the black and white photograph, the young woman wears a silk crepe suit and the famous bag in chevron quilted lambskin.

“For me the iconic handbag is just like the House of Chanel, fundamental and modern, two qualities not usually shared,” said Stewart, who is best known to movie fans as the star of the “Twilight” franchise.

WWD reports that Paolo Roversi photographed Jennifer Lawrence for the Be Dior campaign, which is to roll out in magazines beginning this week.

The actress appears fresh-faced and sophisticated in a series of adverts for the brand, which showcase a range of brightly coloured bags.

In the accompanying video, the actress reveals what she keeps in her handbag: “Wallet, phone, keys — if I can remember them — ChapStick and a little perfume.”

The clip will debut on Thursday at Diormag.com.

Giorgio Armani to unveil “Le Sac 11”

To mark the brand’s 40 years of fashion this year,  is launching a new bag for his most loyal followers.

The Italian designer will unveil the special 40th anniversary edition Le Sac 11 bag, next month during Milan and Paris Fashion Week.

Shoppers in Milan will be able to snap up the collector’s item at the Antonia boutique from March 1.

Armani fans in Paris will be able to purchase the exclusively designed top-handle limited editions, four days later at luxury concept store L’Eclaireur.

Customers will be spoilt for choice as the bag comes in various colors and finishes (including crocodile skin, tanned leather, and calfskin), and in three sizes: small, medium and large.

The design features precious metal fittings and covered rivets at the handles’ closure.

Le Sac 11 was named after the brand’s lucky number 11. 

Giorgio Armani was born on July11, 1934, and the double-digit is also the street number of the Armani headquarters in Milan.

The handbag will retail in Giorgio Armani boutiques starting from April.

Handmade by the artisans in Mulberry’s workshops, this quilted handbag is made of Nappa lambskin dyed bright red in honor of the Asian holiday.

This chic accessory comes with a fob embossed with a ram, a nod to the Chinese zodiac sign of the coming year.

The special Chinese New Year edition mini Cara Delevingne handbag is available at select boutiques and at the Mulberry online store.

Jeremy Scott has teamed up with classic French accessories brand  for a Spring 2015 bag collaboration.

Covered with colorfully scribbled versions of the Western astrological symbols for fire, earth, water and air, the ‘Zodiac’ is a quirky reworking of Longchamp’s famous Le Pliage bag.

Scott has been making headlines for years as the design head of his namesake label, but has recently had his profile shoot into the fashion stratosphere with a series of buzz-worthy collections at Moschino where he was appointed creative director last year.

Priced at €210, the bag will be available exclusively at concept store Colette in Paris from November 17, and then in Longchamp shops and locations from December 15.

Louis Vuitton has unveiled the ad campaign for its collaboration with six of the most creative talents working in art, design, architecture and fashion.

The new  campaign was shot by Karl Lagerfeld, and features top models Australian Julia Nobis and Dane Freja Beha Erichsen.

Shoe designer  has added his signature metallic studs and red lacquered leather to his effort, while Rei Kawakubo (Comme des Garçons) has taken a typically considered approach to her tote design, cutting holes in the side of the bag.

 unveiled a new minute-long film Monday, starring  as a mysterious celeb, hiding from the paparazzi behind dark glasses.

In the clip, Moss arrives in a blacked out sedan, wearing a shaggy fur coat before reappearing in a series of Fall-Winter 2014 outfits.


Kate Moss is protected from the camera flashes by her equally well-dressed companion, played by French hunk Clément Chabernaud.

But as it turns out, the real star here isn’t the model at all: it’s the Jackie Soft, the latest version of Gucci’s classic handbag which appears on the model in a number of colors including caramel, burgundy, black and python.

One of the first bags Ghesquiere designed for Louis Vuitton – the Crocodile Lady Bag PM — was just released at a starting price point of $54,500.

According to Purse Blog, the bag includes two finishes of crocodile and measures slightly over a foot wide at its largest point.


In contrary to most the French couturier’s collection, the Croc bag does not feature its signature LV monogram splashed all over.

There’s no word on how many of these bags will be made, but it’s likely to be an extremely limited piece.

Lancome Couture Makeup Bags

 has teamed up with 3 Parisian designers: Yiqing Yin, Alexandre Vauthier and Jacquemus. Each of the three couturiers has created a limited edition Lancôme makeup kit that can easily double as an evening bag.

The three designers were tasked with creating a makeup bag that could hold three of the brand’s star products: a tube of L’Absolu Rouge lipstick, a tube of Hypnôse Star mascara and the Hypnôse eyeshadow palette.

The French luxury brand had only one additional requirement: the signature Lancôme rose logo had to be visible somewhere on the makeup bags.

Alexandre Vauthier has presented a rectangular clutch in black silk satin with a metallic clasp and a gold-colored chain, allowing it to be worn on the shoulder or in the hand.

Jacquemus has created a cylindrical pouch in pastel pink waterproofed cotton. The model can be carried or worn around the waist on its white strap.

Yiqing Yin, meanwhile, designed a retro gem-shaped clutch in silk crepe with pale gold lamé. The bag has a removable chain with a pale gold finish.

These three makeup bags will be available from June 16. Price: €350 for the Jacquemus bag and €780 for the other two, including the Lancôme products.

Elie Saab has unveiled the Poincaré collection of handbags and purses. The bags are part of a new effort to develop the full range of the couturier’s lines.

Named after the brand’s home on the Avenue Raymond Poincaré in Paris’ 16th arrondissement, the pieces feature strict structures and geometric shapes in burnished metal and plush leather.

Alongside the handbags with necklace-like chains, there is also a new clutch bag design which features a hinged metal design running around the edge, which can also be employed as a handle.

The bags come in a range of purple-red, forest green and deep black colorways and the collection will hit stores in mid-July.

Spring-Summer 2014 marks the return of handbags at Karine Arabian, as the brand’s accessories line consisted solely of leather cuff bracelets last season.

Like the latest Karine Arabian shoe collection, the new handbag line is characterized by a sophisticated yet trendy style. Round and square designs in high-end materials are accented with couture details (chains, clasps).

The collection consists of less than ten luxury handbags along with assorted wallets and coin purses.

This line will be sold in Karine Arabian boutiques and through the brand’s online store from April 30.

Michelle Williams has returned for a new campaign with the French luxury brand, showing off Louis Vuitton’s latest bags and luggage.

In the new adverts, 33-year-old Williams shows off the Lockit, Capucines, and Alma bags, all representing “three different facets of femininity.”

The Lockit is a reinterpretation of a 1950s design, with Williams posing as a classic ‘Parisienne,’ in a series of nonchalant looks. The ladylike Capucines gets a more serious treatment, while the Alma’s colorful mix of Epi leathers are showcased with the actress goofing around on a pile of Vuitton trunks.

Cartier reveals new bags

The French luxury label has unveiled two new bags, their first since 2007.

Named after two of the house’s most iconic figures, CARTIER has designed the Jeanne Toussaint bags for women, and the Louis Cartier for men.

Jeanne Toussaint was a bag designer and head of jewelry for the Parisian brand. Pet-named ‘Panther’, Toussaint dreamed up the famous Cartier Panther brooch in the Duchess of Windsor in 1948.

The bag line named after her mixes artisanal techniques with luxurious crocodile skin and leather to devastating effect. There’s a choice of cream, black and bordeaux color schemes.

The Louis Cartier men’s line is named after the grandson of Louis-François Cartier, the brand’s founder. Louis is perhaps best known as the designer of brand’s famed Baignoire and Tortue watches which were introduced in 1912.

The collection in his honor includes a document holder, which comes in a choice black leather outer with a bordeaux lining, or caramel leather with an ebony lining. There’s also a caramel leather weekend bag.

Prices for the women’s bags range from €1700 to €7500, and from €1200 to €3150 for the men’s models.

Gucci launches exclusive Spotify channel

Gucci has picked six female DJs to curate playlists for its new presence on music streaming service Spotify.

Harley Viera Newton (pictured above), JaKissa Taylor-Semple, Pixie Geldof, Leah Weller, Chelsea Leyland, The Misshapes and Mademoiselle Julia have all created lists of tracks that can be found on Gucci’s Spotify Music Hub.

The move is part of the wider launch of the Gucci “nouveau fringe shoulder bag,” which was inspired by an archival flap shoulder bag from the late 1940s and retails for $1,950.

There’s also a video starring Estonian model Elisabeth Erm that shows the model toting the new bag, followed by security cameras in a glamorous nightclub. Soundtracked by French electro artist Gesaffelstein’s “Pursuit,” the clip comes with a fun twist when she finds herself facing her Peeping Tom.

Bentley is bringing its skillset, color palates and design philosophy to a new capsule collection of women’s handbags.

The Continental bag and the Barnato bag will be the stars of the Bentley Spring Collection, which will make its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 4, alongside its latest cars.

The smaller of the two bags, the Barnato is inspired by aviator and Bentley driver Diane Barnato and will retail for £4,800 ($7,000). The Continental, inspired by the brand’s legendary racing and grand touring cars of the early-to-mid 20th century, is slightly longer in form and will cost £3,800 ($5,500).

Both handbags are available in a selection of vivid or delicate leather color palettes and boast interiors as exquisitely detailed as the interior of any Bentley motorcar past or present — right down to the craftsmanship of the metal clasps, and quilted, diamond stitched liner.

“The colors are strong and exciting. We want to bring accents of daring color into a woman’s wardrobe. The shades emphasize an aspect of the true Bentley personality, which a new generation of female customers can enjoy in their daily lives,” according to Bentley Motors.
