These sinks with patented ‘Horizontal Integrated Siphon’ technology (basically a horizontal drain) were introduced by Italian company Axolute at FuoriSalone 2008 and will revolutionise your bathroom design.
The stunning polished stainless sink features the HIS system, which replaces the traditional drain pipe usually visible underneath basins. Instead, the water flows along the slot of the front of the basin and back into the wall connection.
The lack of pipes underneath makes these designs particularly effective when mounted by themselves, as well as highly convenient to be fitted over a vanity unit.
They are available now at Axolute’s website

Pininfarina, the Italian car design firm, is best known for their luxury car projects like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati GranTurismo but they have recently extended their design expertise to produce a top-of-the-line office chair, the Aresline Xten.
The world’s most expensive office chair costs $1.5 million and has been created for the uber rich CEO’s for the Middle East luxury market.
The exorbitant price is due to expensive material used for cushioning called Technogel which conforms to the body’s contour which reduces seating pressure and fatigue by 60%. Also, Dynatec, a fabric well-liked by Olympic athletes for making you sweat free, covers the chair.
The chair is available in a variety of shades.

The first auction devoted solely to contemporary design will take place at Christie’s in New York this autumn.
“It really is an increasingly popular market,” said Carina Villinger, design specialist of Christie’s New York. “There is a huge overlap with contemporary art. It has got to the point where we need a separate auction.
The Christie’s sale will feature items such as a polyurethane table by the London-based Iranian architect Zaha Hadid, who designed the aquatics centre for the London Olympics, estimated to raise $200,000.
Another lot will be a highly polished steel sofa by the British-born Israeli designer Ron Arad for $300,000. Arad’s work will be exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York next year. That sofa is made of steel that’s polished to match the reflection of a real mirror!

“Devoted equestrians can now trot and canter in the comfort of their own home thanks to the world’s most advanced rocking horse.
The $80,000 virtual reality riding machine called Ridemaster Pro combines a mechanical horse with a host of electronic sensors and a screen to recreate the joys of an outdoor ride without the need for mucking out..”
Its makers, Racewood Simulators, say the Ridemaster Pro enables horse lovers to use normal riding techniques to trot, canter and prompt any number of advanced manoeuvres for those who don’t have space for a horse.
It is pretty cost effective though as you don’t have any maintainance costs like food, vets, cleaning and you don’t need the space or a dressage arena .
“With one of our simulators you can ride at any time of day in a centrally heated or air-conditioned environment” said company managing director Bill Greenwood. “We also sell to Scandinavian countries where the weather is miserable and raining and to Dubai where it’s 40 degrees centigrade and too hot to ride.”
The Ridemaster Pro comes with a screen upfront which displays a number of courses and to replicate a real horse closely, users will sit on a synthetic horse model that gives real time feedback. A calorie counter can be added.
For $80,000, you will look ultra stupid just riding away to nowhere but I admit If you want to teach large groups of completely unskilled riders the basics, this would be more cost effective than a comparable number of well-trained horses.
