French luxury goods firm Hermes has announced that it will be launching a collection of fine jewelry with accessories designer Pierre Hardy.

The 14 piece collection of “haute bijouterie” was inspired by the shape of a horse’s hoof to keep with the fashion house’s equestrian roots.

Prices range from $23,675 for a pair of rose gold and black jade earrings to $880,000 for a diamond necklace.

Hermes is exiting a luxury yacht joint venture with shipbuilder Wally, saying it is not experienced enough to complete the project according to Reuters.

The two partners had unveiled a full-sized model of their mega yacht, “WHY”, in Monte Carlo in September.

“We are currently in the phase of carrying out the project, which is technically complex and which requires on-the-spot decisions.”

While other stores are closing, Hermès will open its first store entirely dedicated to men’s ready-to-wear, accessories and art of living on Wednesday.

Located at 690 Madison Avenue in New York, “Hermès Man on Madison” will stand directly across the street from the U.S. flagship store.

The 2,450 square foot store is the first Hermès boutique in the world that is dedicated to men only.

Despite the economic crisis, 2009 ended better than it began for the French luxury goods sector, thanks largely to China’s growing taste for high-end products, encouraging thoughts of a better 2010.

Following the trend set by other global luxury brands, Hermes and LVMH announced fourth quarter sales growth on Thursday and Friday, suggesting the worst of the crisis could be over for the sector.

After announcing that annual profits fell 13 percent to 1.7 billion euros (2.3 billion dollars), LVMH chief executive Bernard Arnault said he was pleased with “record” sales figures for December, which he said would “grow in January”.
